There is zero actual reward from getting a higher rank other than “look at my ego” title card that means nothing as t500 and low diamond are the exact same now. the “new” comp system just dropped everyone a rank put a sticker of a lower rank on it and called it a day? Also zero end of season rewards makes the gold/jade guns even more of a slog to get. not that anyone likes Jade

I loved the revamp to allow a few points for a loss. I’m not in favor of rewarding defeat, but its a video game and its a time sink and getting nothing for putting time in felt horrible, and really turned me away from competitive.
I was shocked at the end of the season to see no rewards. What a joke. These developers are anti-fun. Such a pathetic excuse for comp.
SR system was much better and transparent than every garbage they have cooked up for ow2 till now

It actually amuses me when people try to talk down to me because I’m a ‘lowly Plat’, but what use have I for playing in GM? To…sit around for 30+ minutes waiting for a match that will probably be rampant with cheaters? To gloat about reaching an artificial and very virtual milestone?
Reaching GM means so little anymore because of all the bad matchmaker tweaking and the cheaters (mostly the cheaters). So I’ve stopped caring about rank, I only even play comp when it’s a challenge for the Day/Week.
I am just using it to gather Jade gun points. I want that titanium green hammer… Why? I have no idea. Just to have it, I guess.

It serves the purpose of getting to play both sides of the map instead of one half of a lopsided map.
Which only matters for payload these days, but still.
other than the fact OW1 rewarded players for reaching a certain rank that made it so they got gold guns faster? your jaded view makes you complacent to bad design and is a main reason why online games have become so anti consumer
