My word, people. RELAX.
Comp has improved so much over the course of 9 seasons and it’s only getting better. So much has been altered, adjusted, added and removed for the betterment of this game and it’s at a point where it’s the best it has ever been.
There are definitely things we all dislike about it but it’s a game for crying out loud, take a break if it’s bothering you
I took a break at the start of season 9 and only started playing again 3 days ago. It’s very refreshed to me, and I’m having a LOT of fun and climbing as well.
You know what’s crazy? when the upgraded report system was integrated, I reported people almost every single game. the last 15 games Ive played over yesterday and today? I’ve only reported someone ONCE.
You really don’t need to quit forever, or riot on the forums literally daily about unfair matchmaking or whatever. Just r e l a x.
This game is STILL overwatch. the same Overwatch you fell in love with however long ago.
I report people for major issues such as racism, sabotage, toxicity and other major stuff. I feel so happy when I log in and get spammed with 3 or more “Thanks for reporting” messages from Blizzard because I know that those reports went towards completely justified silences or suspension actions against the sort of people who truly deserved to be punished for their immaturity, their hatefulness and their prejudices against other people.
When has it gotten better? The games always been toxic specifically because they won’t put in role select that would solve a lot of the problems. The only thing it’s made me and my friends do is make alt accounts where we can also go troll
I just want to say thanks to the OP for starting a topic that isn’t complaining about something. Bring on more positive topics, I say! I mean, if the game was really not fun to play then people would just stop playing it and not bother whinging on the forums about things which they think are broken because they want them fixed.
Competive is trash at the moment. They need to fix the matchmaking. And add role queue or something else to play as a full team. Now there’re so many throwers and people that just do what the hell they want to.
The "game " is not toxic. “People” are toxic which effects your enjoyment of the game. Punish PEOPLE. Do not blame the game itself or its creators. Blame the people in it. Blame the people who spread fallacies and bullcrap complaints that lead to silly changes. Condemn the people who harass and discriminate against others for their rank or act hateful toward others without provocation.
Ever since Blizzard started notifying people that their reports are actually doing something that is a sign that things are moving in the correct direction even if it is slowly. The right people are being punished.
Change doesn’t happen in a day, not overnight, not a week, and certainly not in one season.
Comp is not getting better or worse its just the same issues that we have had since inception. Right now people are especially tilted cause it’s end of season AND we have a holiday event so the casuals are non existent in comp right now and hence there isn’t enough “fodder” to feed off of.
Smurfs are an issue, people with 50 different alternate accounts are a problem. Intentional derankers are an issue. I think the most overlooked issue is there just isnt enough fresh blood entering the system at this point and it’s just a bunch of washed up plats infesting high silver right now.
If you are a legit newcomer right now you are flat out just screwed.
I used to play quite a lot in seasons 1 and 2. Now I have not played from this time till last weekend, so season 9. I think it still feels very much the same. You still get the roughly the same number of trolls, throwers and other toxic people as you get amazing team mates, communicating, cheering people up and helping you to win.
So it still a mixed bag and the quality is roughly the same.
I can’t tell if this post is troll or if you really have this fantasy belief… No, because of the freedom the game gives people it causes toxicity therefore the game itself is toxic. People aren’t the main cause, it’s the freedom to just que comp, not join voice, go symmetra regardless of if you’re on attack, defense, a 2 cp map, a CP map which causes the issues.
And you sir are incorrect. Some innocent people are getting banned because they’re one tricks/sym mains etc because the system will auto ban at X number of reports, the system isn’t working
I have to disagree with you on this one. From seasons 1-4 I don’t remember much, if any, toxicity or trolls.
I think Season 5 is where it all started to go downhill. More toxicity and trolls, leading people to have their will broken and jump on the toxic bandwagon.
Now a lot of people want to have a second account to play on to let off some steam.
No, i was replying to him because he thinks that toxicity is just from the people when in reality it’s the game that is causing people to be toxic.
I report Sym one tricks or people playing torb trolling and making us lose when they’re useless.
Am i a toxic person? No. The game allowed these people to troll me which made me become toxic. So change the game so people cant just do whatever they want
I was just playing Moira and the other healer was Lucio on Junkertown.
I was on the point for the whole match aside from respawn/run times and retreating with Shade from ults/abilities etc. The DPS was McCree and Hanzo. we had a Rein and an Orisa as tanks on attack.
The McCree and hanzo were not defending us from the Reaper who was tearing us apart so the tanks died because the Reaper would target the Lucio first, he ran to the Rein and me, The Rein would die because the Reaper got pocketed my Mercy on high ground. The McCree was just hiding in the corridors trying to kill the enemy Orisa from behind her shield and never came backwards to be healed. I kept having to use my orbs on point to heal the Rein from the damage boosted Reaper.
The McCree had the nerve to complain he waqsn’t being healed. Tried to tell him that no matter what healer we have he cant be healed when he is not in line of sight. Yeah I could throw my heal orb but the enemy Dva was being pretry attentive to absorbing it. And thats what I told him as well.
This is the problem. People do not understand how heal priority works. you heal the tanks first then the DPS especially if the DOS are not in range or line of sight.
The guy tried to get the other team to report me after saying in team chat “Cry more baby” and “boohoo QQ” etc which was completely childish.
People need to learn to have some respect for their healers.
Wrong. The game doesn;t cause someone to be toxic. People who play the game poorly or treat people like crap for no good reason are the problem.
If the game sat there not being played the game does nothing.
A gun doesn’t shoot someone unless a person picks it up and pulls the trigger. A knife doesn’t find its way into someone on its own. Someone picks it up and stabs someone else.
The phone doesn’t dial itself and call someone to leave an angry voicemail. Someone has to press the buttons.
The game is NOT to blame, its people use or misuse of the game that causes toxicity. The game is just the means by which people have chosen to verbally abuse other players just like all the aforementioned items. The items don;t do harm unless someone makes a choice to harm someone with them.
