Comp is in the toilet

Matchmaking aside this community has gotten so horrible when you play comp. Nasty vile people. Blaming eveeryone else for thier weakness.

That’s the result of frustration due to horrible matchmaking. So if they actually FIXED matchmaking and matches felt closer and balanced after SIX freaking seasons, people would be less toxic. Of course some people will be no matter what, but it wouldn’t happen that often.

This! It’s definitely not justified at all. However people are a product of their environment.

anyone else starting to run into 10+ minute que times?

I think people get frustrated to lose SR because of someome else’s fault.

If the SR was PURELY based on performance (despite win or loss), you’d potentially see less toxicity

Exactly. A system based on wins/losses is ridiculous as you can perform the best of both teams and lose or be the worst in the match and still win. That doesn’t sound competitive to me. If you have friends with Smurf accounts, you’ll rank up even if you play like a bronze 70000 player.

No that’s the result of people being people.

Doesn’t matter what your opinion is on MM (or anything else). You make the decision whether you’re going to be a prat or not. No one else, no game, no system is making you behave badly.

Take responsibility, stop blaming everything else.

we need this , i agree

I disagree.

But purely because instead of blaming team mates. They’ll blame this ā€œsystemā€. There is no win with this community, something will always be there to blame.

Sadly for them, if you just play enough games, your rank will be roughly corresponding to your skill.

If you’re only playing a handful of games, you just massively increase the chance of inaccuracy (sadly).

(Also, this hypothetical system wouldn’t work in this type of game)

untrue…the pace of the game is faster, and mistakes are harder to come back from… which does not help populations learn… unless they know how to learn and thats the issue… 6v6 was a slog compared to ow2 which lead to ult economy fights, which for pew pew people they hate… and thus overwatch dies because the peeps ow2 is geared towards lives in valorant now :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Yes it is. But the game has never done anything to help people learn. So that’s kind of a non point.

People haut have to keep playing to learn. And listen to others.

Having ranks based on performance rather than results would mean one thing. Someone will figure out what stats are important, and abuse the system to rank up, rather than play the game.

But ultimately it already is kind of how it works… Just the stat is wins and the objective. Not heals and elims.

Nah, see the issue is that it made it harder for people to learn the game due to the pacing being so much faster and the reality that the playerbase blizzard wants, cant aim… and that ok. but you cant have your cake and eat it too with regards to competition.

OW1 was alot more strategic so it forced you to learn, here twitch aim gets you high, and blizzard see’s that and puts people in diamond+ games when they can aim but not think…

Not really. The same resources for learning the game exist now that we’re around for OW1 (YouTube twitch and so on)

It being faster is just a mechanical and game sense thing. Which only comes with playing more.

The strategic element is the same. People haut listened believed when they said you’d have more individual impact, and think that means they can solo every thing.

What they actually meant was mathmatically you have more impact.

playing any game at a faster rate… makes that game harder to comprehend and thus makes it harder for the onus of blame to be put on yourself… due to the fact that you cant understand what is happening… that’s the reason they went 5v5 for newer players… but its now just complicated in a different way that’s harder to learn from due to the chaos being so much faster…

In that situation. You only have yourself to blame.

There is a learning curve to everything. If you struggle as the base level pace of the game… You can’t blame anyone other than yourself for that. (Honestly. I find a lot of players are very passive and that matches are WAY too slow. Just won a shambali game by just rushing forward. Completed with about 4+ minutes left on the clock. Those are the fun games.)

People like to post videos about Top500’s talking bad about MM.

Well, I just clipped this:

Literally what’ve been saying these past months.

Yep. 1000 times this.

But people don’t want to learn. They want immediate results, and if they don’t get them ā€œgrrr team badā€ ā€œdamn you match maker!!!ā€.

Yes blame the consumer for the faults of the product, I am sure that will hold up well under the annals of history.

Sigh, people are stupid, however blizzard knew this when they made the game free to play… they chose to open Pandora’s box and its biting them in the rear long term wise, but money was made so who cares… so if blizzard does not care why should the community care… and if no one cares chaos reigns… which is why i understand your annoyance, but you know what, multiplayer games exist to challenge yourself, as well as to commune… and honestly the population that spends the money prefer the community(possibly due to social issues) over sheer skill expression :stuck_out_tongue:

did you really just say that a 4+ minute snooze fest of pressing w is fun? Yet turn around and say " SKILL MY FRIEND YOU NEED IT"

I blame the consumer for the behaviour of the consumer.

As your original post was talking about. This isn’t an overwatch issue. This is a people issue.

Yes.
