I am playing on PlayStation 4. During the hero ban/selection phase, my game froze and I was unable to enter the match. The game was working normally before that and this was not an intentional leave.
As a result, I received a 20-hour competitive suspension. I would appreciate it if you could review the penalty and check whether it was caused by a technical issue.
Hi, there is no staff assistance available in the forums. This area is for P2P troubleshooting crashes and install issues.
Overwatch applies the same penalty to players who disconnect or leave from matches, regardless of reason or fault. These penalties cannot be overturned. You can read more about that policy here: Leaver Penalties and Technical Issues.
Blizzard no longer offers courtesy tech support for any of the games. That team (who answered tech tickets and posted here) was disbanded and reassigned to other departments about 2.5 years ago. Most AAA game titles from other gaming studios don’t offer technical support either.
The staff members answering tickets are part of the Customer Support team. They can only link you to the self-help articles on the support site or assist with billing issues (change name, payment method, address, etc.).
I know that isn’t your decision to make, but as someone who has been a Blizzard fan since the 90’s, buying countless Blizz games the whole way, and almost every single Collector’s Edition, it blows me away that the executives have decided to destroy their support reputation like that. Blizzard used to pride itself in customer support, and now, we’re just a number.
What a joke, and these forums really confirm that.
I believe you, but when I log into WoW next (months from now?) I’m going to check the state of that, because Blizz support in WoW has been pivotal to me many times over the decades. To hear it have a death knell like this makes me really want to spend a lot less money on anything Blizzard.
And yes, I have almost every Collector’s Edition. Original boxes, first in line, original receipts.
I hope that changes for the better, because it sure sounds like the bean counters “won”.
Like seriously if I can’t get help or support because BLIZZARD GAME SERVERS are messing up… well you can finish the sentence and you’ll probably be right.
I obviously can’t help with the ban, but I’m here to confirm this issue happening on PC as well. I’ve had 3 hard freezes with months in between each freeze. Every time it happens I can close the game via Task Manager, but an instance of Overwatch.exe gets stuck in the background and the Battle Net App says “Playing Now”. Only fix is to restart my PC.
The only common thread between each freeze is very long play sessions. If I close the game every now and then I don’t run into these freezes.
