Feels like Overwatch community has never been this toxic, every game people spam “ez” or just insult others in the meanest ways. Blizzard what will you do about this? Do I have to turn off text/voice chat completely?

The community HAS always been this toxic, it just feels worse because more people have access to it. The gaming community as a whole is a cesspool but OW has always been like this.

OW is so much better when you either ignore the chat or turn it off. If you’re in a competitive setting that requires comms, treat them like a privilege. As soon as someone acts up, leave and mute everything.

Blizz will do nothing about it but continue to try and convince us that an automated report system “totally works”.

Have pretty thicc skin but it gets quite annoying after a while when you constantly listen or read swearing/raging or just toxic jargon. Guess I have to finally try the mute option

Toxicity feels worse in OW2. The game is more frustrating to play and the devs decisions are just exacerbating this problem.
Just mute everything in game. It’s the only way to play OW2, especially if you’re support.

It’s entirely unsurprising that the worst of the community continues to be the worst of the community. The same folk that complain about everything are the same folk that are toxic in game and throw because people bought the battle pass or a skin from the shop. It’s immaturity and entitlement, those attributes go hand in hand. The people that support/defend that behavior are just as bad.

Can I turn off team chat? The only reason I don’t is because I hope there might be helpful communication. I don’t want to look like a butt but it’s awful when it’s your own team, too.
I turned off match chat and vc. It helps.
Also I just generally try to ignore anything that isn’t helpful information…but that’s getting less and less now.

i did that like 2 years ago and because it was pretty bad then. got border rank shamed a lot… is it worse now lol? or has it always been bad its just that people get sick of it over time
although to be honest i got teabagged A LOT as sombra in season 1. i dont have voice/chat text on but i bet i was getting harrassed but people dont know i cant even hear/see what they are saying lol

I can confirm I’ve seen a massive spike in open toxicity, not only towards support players, but also people on Ram in QP.
I’ve always been one for keeping team chat on, but as it is… I’m fixin’ to turn even that off and go with no text chat at all.

These are random nobodies who know nothing about you saying EZ is a problem because you let it become one. They’re not insulting something that is immutable to you as a person, its just some dipsht who doesn’t have much going for them.
They are just as bad here.
