Community Ideal Patch 1.45

Maybe we as a community can help Blizzard with the next patch. Here are some ideas I’ve seen, but feel free to give replies and we’ll edit the original post as great consensus ideas come in. Currently posted ideas which are nearly universally rejected can also be changed.

Tanks

D.Va

  • Defense Matrix now fully regenerates in 5 seconds instead of 6 seconds.
  • Defense Matrix cooldown reduced from 1.5 seconds to 1.25 seconds.
  • Micro Missiles do double damage to barriers.

Roadhog

  • New Trait: Feed the Pig. Damaging Roadhog grants half the normal Ultimate Charge to enemies.

Damage

Hanzo

  • Storm Arrow no longer damages barriers.

Mei

  • Freeze effect now requires 3 seconds of primary fire instead of 1.5.
  • New Trait: Slide Step. Spraying the ground in front of you while moving forward grants Mei a 20% movement speed bonus.
  • Ending Cryo Freeze early now chills enemies within 4 meters and damages them for 50 HP. Cryo Freeze cannot be cancelled until at least 1 second after its usage.

Reaper

  • Wraith Form now has a 0.75 second intro animation before Reaper becomes ethereal.

Soldier 76

  • Helix Rockets now do double damage to barriers.
  • Helix Rockets cooldown is reduced by 2 seconds every time they damage an enemy hero.

Symmetra

  • New Trait: Hard Light Shield. Symmetra and her allies receive 50 shields whenever they are within 15 meters of her Sentries or Teleporter. This effect does not stack.
  • Secondary Fire now passes through barriers.

Torbjorn

  • Armor Packs are restored to Torbjorn. These grant 50 armor to allies and require Scrap. Armor Packs are now the Secondary Fire while Hammer is equipped.

Support

Baptiste

  • Regenerative Burst healing is decreased from 30 per second to 20 per second.

Brigitte

  • Personal Barrier health increased from 200 to 300.
  • Shield Bash cooldown reduced from 7 seconds to 3.5 seconds ONLY if Shield Bash does not connect with any target.

Mercy

  • Healing is increased from 50 per second to 55 per second.

Lucio

  • Speed Aura movement bonus is increased to 30% from 25%.

I don’t really think this is necessary. He doesn’t even really need nerfs right now.

But if he were to get nerfed, I’d rather give Wraith a cast time or reduce his lifesteal.

I may be an odd man out here but I don’t think Roadhog needs any buffs. He’s very strong.

I am not a fan of most of these to be honest… Which is actually relatively rare.

Oh go away please, the armour changes and shield changes already lowered his pick rate and ALSO bought his counters back onto the field.

Roadhog doesn’t need buffs and has to have a weakness. He has high self sustain (best in the game), high damage, and cc. His ult isn’t bad either. It’s not the best ult but it’s not a bad one.

I’m really digging the idea of letting Symmetra’s teleport double as a short-range shield buff for her team. 15m might be a bit wide area since Lucio has 12m (I’d Imagine LOS would be required - but hope it could persist through enemy shields) ; but cooldown time after break is plenty of time to deal with Symm if you can take care of the teleport first.

Thanks. It’s a nifty way to get her original ability back in the game without the mundane nature of it returning. Plus, her shields and Torb’s armor removal was one of the overlooked ways that double snipers became so powerful.

I think due to it requiring two separate mouse presses to activate + the mouse buttons used nonstop as weapon/shield, would kill your right hand in matches probably

I think they should just give her permanent rally running speed only for herself, and when rally is activated, everyone else gets the speed too like normal

Moira

  • Self healing only available from healing orb
  • Gets old old healing numbers back

Developer comment : Making self healing only available from Healing orb puts a little more pressure on Moira to back off from prolonged duels, leaving her team un-healed. We hope this change makes tunnelvisioning dps Moiras to take her healing role more seriously.

 

Console menus (all console platforms)

  • Console menus are now much more resposive
  • Increased dead zones slightly to combat erratic menu behaviour caused by stick drift
  • Added dead zone adjustment slider under Gameplay tab

Developer comment : We have ignored console players for long enough, so we finally tasked the intern (yugh) to whip something up during his one day off. We hope this generous update keeps you whiny plebs shut for now.

 

Château Guillard

  • Removed wharf spawn

Developer comment : We left that spot in the game as a prank meant to be removed later, but accidentally fired the only guy who knows how to redesign maps. The intern (blergh) finally managed to locate him and threatened to kill his cat if he didn’t come back to fix this joke of a spawn. Enjoy.

almost al dps bufs are for damaging shields, which they got nerfed until be made of paper

  • roleQ changes from 2-2-2 to 1-2-3 comps
  • players can disable backfill
  • ranked is seperated into soloQ only and 3 or 6 stacks

Decent balancing ideas but I don’t get this continued hatred of barriers unless you want people to never pick the characters that have them for whatever reason.

Why nerf Baptiste’s self heal though ? His immortality field, sure, his amp matrix why not.
Even nerfing his gun damage/rof/ammo makes more sense than nerfing his only (weak) self heal.

If anything I would lower the gun damage slightly while reducing recoil. Then make his Regen Burst only effect him while keeping everything else the same.

I’m not a fan of any of the damage against shield changes you’ve suggested. If you were gonna nerf Hanzo, making his storm arrows do 0 against shields is just… Weird?

I’d personally partially revert the travel time on his arrows (As even Geoff states he regrets increasing the speed) not a full revert but half, so he’s still more consistent than pre buff, but it makes his weapon feel unique again. Storm arrows is tough as I have 0 ideas how to balance them. Removing headshots might be fine, lowering the overall damage instead might be fine, or removing another arrow might be fine, but I have 0 idea.

I also do not believe D.Va should do more damage to barriers. She’s not a shield buster. Personally I would give her the Torb treatment. Shrink her critbox a bit. She’s the only tank with a critbox in the center of her mass, and she gets shredded too easily.

And for Soldier this isn’t what he needs at all. Barriers have already been nerfed pretty hard, so he doesn’t need his rocket to do 240 damage to a barrier.

For Hog, he’s fine right now. If he got that, I fully believe he should be nerfed somewhere else to compensate for it. The idea is cool though.

Mei’s ideas are cool, but I do not believe she should have movement buffs. She’s a low mobility hero and she should stay like that. I’m also not the biggest fan of a random AOE attack being added to cryo freeze, and personally when I’m playing Mei I don’t need to be in my cryo for 1 full second (Because I may have kited a Doomfist and need to get out ASAP, not give him a whole second to set up around me)

Lucio really doesn’t need a nerf IMHO.

Brig shouldn’t be able to get a free chance to stun if she misses and should wait the full 7 seconds

Sym idea is cool but idk if it’s what she needs

Torb idea is ok as well, but you begin to get into the territory of too much extra HP if both him and Sym have their stuff back, because top it off with Brig’s ult that’s a lotta health.

His immortality field is hard to nerf without making it useless. The problem with Baptiste is he has two ways to win one-on-ones (regen and immortality). And since regen is a brainless button press, I think it’s the better one to reduce. Plus, it’s essentially a super powered Inspire ready at any moment for a hero who already has AoE heals.

Most self-healing abilities are.

He’s got a 15s cooldown on his regenerative burst. And once again, it’s his only way to heal himself.

3/4 of the time if you make him use his immortality field to protect himself he’ll also use his heal because he won’t want to sit on 40hp.

Also, I get that Baptiste isn’t the easiest healer to 1v1, but it has never ever been considered one of the reasons he is strong right now.

I don’t think that his immortality field being hard to balance should ever warrant a change to a part of his kit that is completely fine.
