Under game settings->Controls->Communications tab, there are multiple bugs:
Communication Wheel settings do not fully display under the settings interface. There are multiple positions on the wheel that are not visible in the settings. There are 8 possible positions for voicelines on the wheel, and only 6 of them are visible under the settings, meaning eventually you have to choose and change one that you don’t want to change, in the hope that it’ll shuffle the voiceline you want into the position that you want to set.
Note:
I’ve only managed to successfully login to the game once since launch, and have spent what little time I had tweaking and testing settings in a custom game. I have not had a chance to play an actual match yet, nor thoroughly test all the settings. It’s entirely possible there are other tabs under the Controls settings that are similarly bugged in which they do not reflect changes to the settings. Please do due diligence and check others while you’re at it. Thanks. (I will also update this post should I find any more bugs for the Controls settings)
Update: Just managed to finally login into the game today and test out things further. The previous #1 bug I listed about ALL changes to Communications controls settings not being reflected in game is gone, but the communication wheel setting not showing all 8 sections under the settings interface is still there.
Update 2: Despite what I said in the previous update, the settings are still randomly bugging out, randomly switching between current keybinds and prevous keybind functions. For example, my “Ping - In World” function is set to the letter “Y”. It used to be set to the spray menu, in the base game Overwatch 1. Today I’ve experienced issues where in one match the Ping function would suddenly stop working and I would have the Spray menu show up when I’m pressing Y and trying to Ping. Then for the entire match I would be unable to ping at all. Next match it suddenly goes back to normal. Then the next match it would randomly show the spray menu again when I’m pressing the Y button and trying to ping. This happened several times today. I don’t know if it has anything to do with the fact that in-between matches I’m going into the Controls settings and changing my mouse sensitivity, so every time I’m changing something under Controls, even though it has nothing to do with the Y key or the Ping function.
Update 3 (Oct 11): This bug still has not been fixed after the latest patch. I’ve updated the top description of the bug to summarize and clarify the problems that still exist to the best of my knowledge.
Update 4 (Feb 3): Communications wheel settings are still bugged, only showing 6 out of 8 possible positions for configuration under the Settings->Controls menu.
After going through all my characters control settings, resetting individual hero’s settings repeatedly then reconfiguring them, I’ve not had my Ping key randomly bugging out and reverting to old settings issue anymore for at least a few weeks, so while it’s likely still a bug, I consider it resolved for now.
