Collection of master strats per map?

I seriously don’t get what I’m missing other than raw skills - plz check my overbuff - I have high percentiles for a lot of stats. Can it really be I’m standing in the wrong spot that I drop down from 2200 to 1930s?

Honestly I believe I am missing comp analysis and perhaps some shooting angles.

To tackle the shooting angles just wondering if someone had some map walk thrus?

Not just about where you’re standing.

It’s also about when you’re standing there.

Where do you go when the enemy contests your position.

Do you re-contest after you get healed, or do you surrender that position?

Can you read the ebb and flow of a team fight?

Why’d I get a feeling you’d contest me on that…. Yes nothing is ever simple. Did I hurt you that bad?

Just picture this, end of the day I’m trying to make every match even.

I simply asked if someone had a collection of YouTube’s they thought was helpful about maps and angles.

I didn’t contest anything actually.

I simply said “not just about where you’re standing, it’s about when.”

I personally do not.

I learned map geometry from trial and error, and coaching (in scrims obviously).

Doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist, but I’ve yet to see a YouTube video that did even a moderate job of breaking down map geometry.

This is going to be very challenging to find in a “general video” sense.

Positioning and angles depends very heavily on the hero you’re playing, the map you’re on, the composition your team is running, the comp their team is running, what characters on each team have ults, whether you’re winning the team fight or not, and so on and so forth.

You’re in silver, map specific positioning tips will do you no good. You need to focus on learning the basics of the three roles first, and probably working on your mechanics and awareness in general.

Don’t concern yourself with niche knowledge like tech and super secret angles and positions quite yet, that’s something that starts to matter around diamond.

gameleap does, the free videos are actually helpful if you pay attention to what they are saying

i havent seen any comprehensive strategy guides that i thought were good. and honestly im not too surprised because its more of a thing you need to feel out on your own to be useful. an angle is just a different place that you look at the enemy from compared to your team, usually past their shields and into the squishies, and what makes it useful is both who you can see from that angle + how safe you are when you peek it… how safe it is depends on the likeliness that you’re going to die by holding that angle, like if you’re in hook range, if you’re in dash range of a genji, how many people can rush you down, does it have a healthpack nearby, whats the cover like and do you actually play the cover properly… etc. some of those factors change based on the rank or the team comps or the supports and tanks you have. its not a formula, u just get a feel for it over time as you play if you try to focus on it.

like, sure there are some spots that are universally good angles to shoot from (third point havana comes to mind, that place where the defending widows or hitscans literally always hold - you see over their shields and are hard to contest) but i wonder how much good a “stand here, shoot from here on every map” guide would do

anyway, you can get a very good understanding of map control and how to find and play around useful angles from watching spilo’s vod reviews on youtube particularly of heroes like hanzo, mccree or ana.

as for a mix of learning timing and split pushing/taking angles with your team, i would suggest watching one of a10’s zarya unranked to gm’s, and maybe his tracer one. you don’t have to watch the whole thing, but the first 5 -10 or so matches have really good examples and you can apply it even if you don’t have his mechanics… it usually isnt the mechanics that people are lacking. also, spilo’s tracer vods are good for understanding timing. it really isn’t too difficult, people usually just need to hear it from someone else a few times

Seems like I’m not the only person who finds this subject to be an abstract concept.

No Get Rich Quick guides exist

You’re the only one still talking about it :joy::joy:

I mean it’s kinda weird I ask str8 questions everyone else has insightful direct replies. (Thanks btw)

This dude wants to go philosophical on a tidy bit of sentence then offers nothing (first reply). … well he offered more than you so I guess I shouldn’t complain too much. :joy::joy::joy::joy:

You asked a complex question and literally multiple people gave extensive answers, including Calculus.

You want a simple answer to a complex question.

Garbage in, garbage out.

I guess I thought a programmer would understand that.

My b.

He gives very detailed and thoughtful answers.

You just choose to see it as useless because you have a personal grudge.

He honestly deserves better.

There’s another forum user from what I recall who had this same exact issue. Was asking essentially for a Bible on what they need to do when they are this hero and their team is standing at X positions and enemy team is at Y positions but they also needed to know what they needed to do if hero Z was standing at position B instead of position C. They needed an exact guide on when to use their ability so that they can “win”.

There’s really no YouTube or guide in the world that is going to break it down for you that much. The best that you can do is understand the areas where attackers have advantage and where defenders have advantage and realize that’s where most team fights are going to occur. Going further from there, you’ll want to quickly analyze what the enemy damage players are and then decide on your positioning based off of that. A position that makes your Hanzo have massive value in one game might work because the enemy team has zero flankers, isn’t running dive or your tanks are holding their ground while your chip damage keeps their tanks cowering. In another game the same position doesn’t work because they have a decent flanker or they’re running dive and just gets you out. In both scenarios, you were at the Godspot but due to the team compositions the results were different. The thing that will actually save you there is understanding what you have to deal with and adjust your positioning on the fly. Unless you really don’t know the maps at all, those are the types of positioning/game sense you’d probably want to look for.

Wow…. The spam report. Looks like I struck a nerve.

Also, above poster provided an even more in-depth response than calculus.

Well thanks, I mean this all comes from vods - I believe kazoo mention a “better” angle and like the space video - was just wondering if some1 took that time to make video.

I’ll look at the videos suggested.

Thanks all - just wondering didn’t mean to get too deep in the abstract.

Wasn’t spam - trolling. You offered absolutely nothing to the threads question. Like not even a little.

Positioning is very subjective depending on your hero, team comp and enemy team comp, I doubt there is a master strat map quide out there which applies to everything.

I’d recommend watching hero specific guides for whatever heroes you main.

Raw skills are definitely important, doesn’t matter if you have good gamesense and strats, if you can’t execute the strat because of bad mechanical skill.

Stats alone mean nothing, especially if you are just farming them.

I have watched a VOD of yours before, not surprised that you are where you belong at right now.

You are lacking both mechanical and gamesense

He corrected you on something important and elaborated a bit on others points, you seem like the troll here

Check out this playlist. I haven’t seen much of these myself but they are probably the most up-to-date.
