Coin balance changing despite no purchases, now on negative

As stated in title.

Recently bought a pack that gave me silver coins, requested to refund it from support.

After having done so, my gold coins randomly went up to 4.1k. I was like “ok great I can spend this”.

Next day it went down to -390. When I contacted support they told me it’s because of a purchase I made, yet the last purchase I made was refunded? How is that possible?

Does your Battle.net account’s Transaction History:

list what purchase(s) and/or refund(s) contributed to reaching the currently depicted balance?

That link says I should have 5600 credits as my current balance. Overwatch in game still shows -360.

Do you mean that the VIRTUAL WALLET “tab” section of the Battle.net Transaction History displays:

Game Ecosystem Balance
Overwatch® 5600 Credits / -360 Overwatch Coins

But, the Transaction History entries themselves don’t appear to add up to or explain how the balance was reached?

I am making a ticket because my overwatch coin total in the game client itself is -360, which should not be possible at all, and the battle.net staff are saying they can’t do anything to help me about the fact that I all of a sudden have evaporating digital money. How can I have negative coins? Am I allowed to buy skins on credit now?

The following comment was me just replying to your question to let you know that my current balance reads as 5600 credits at the link you provided. It calls it an ecosystem balance, I have no idea what that means, because it makes no effort to explain what that means anywhere. It honestly feels like this is designed to be intentionally obfuscating of the value of the product/credits and I’m honestly surprised there isn’t laws against this.

I assume that it’s referring to which underlying platform’s store / payment system was used for a purchase or refund, based on the drop-down selections including entries such as:

  • Ecosystem - Battle.net
  • Ecosystem - Nintendo
  • Ecosystem - PlayStation
  • Ecosystem - XBOX
  • Ecosystem - Unknown

And, since Overwatch Coins redeemed and/or purchased on some platforms are not accessible on other platforms.

A potential point of confusion may be whether “Credits” or “Overwatch Coins” were what was purchased, then later refunded… as you appear to already be aware, these are different types of currencies.

My intention in providing you the link to your Battle.net Transaction History was to guide you to the “official” ledger for your account, that would hopefully reveal what purchase(s) and or refund(s) occurred, in what order, that ultimately resulted in your current balances of “Credits” and “Overwatch Coins”. Ideally, the entries would make sense and explain the result. If they didn’t, then you could use them as a point of reference in discussion with Blizzard via a support ticket: https://support.blizzard.com/help/

I assume that depending on which platform’s store / payment system was used for a purchase or refund, combined with the earning of currency via in-game activities, combined with the timing of in-game purchases…

Example:

Add/Subtract Amount Comments
750 Existing balance
+ 1,000 Microsoft Xbox store purchase
+ 300 Earned via in-game Challenges
2,050 Balance
- 750 In-game hero skin purchase
- 750 In-game hero skin purchase (another)
550 Balance
- 1,000 Microsoft Xbox store refund
-(450) Balance

There are multiple ways Blizzard could try to handle that, further complicated by: the methods and timing of the purchases and refund, the multiple payment / store systems used, each systems’ Terms of Use, contractual obligations amongst Blizzard and each platform, etc…

Please NOTE: I am NOT suggesting you or Blizzard is at fault. I am NOT trying to justify the results you have reported. My intention was simply to try and help a fellow player in understanding a potentially complicated scenario AND hopefully find the answer/evidence they need to explain the result or to be able to work with Blizzard’s support to remediate an error (if one was applicable).

I wish you the best of luck in this endeavor.

So as nice as all the info that Daz submitted is nice to know, understanding is always an important step in the resolution of your problems, if you actually want help with this issue, you should make a ticket with battle.net support. They’re the only ones who can help you resolve this problem, if possible.
