So, D.va is listed as being age 19, and we know already that there’s some inaccuracies in character ages/story telling (for example, McCree’s current age but yet was around for the creation of DR in 1976), but I was reading something and I noticed that MEKA was created approx. 20 years before the current time in overwatch.
Now this might all be public knowledge, or might be theory, I don’t know. So, its 20 years ago, MEKA is created, then “after some time” they start using gamers, and recruit D.va… Lets assume some time is a decade. So “shooting star” takes place 10 years ago, meaning that a D.VA that would show up in OW2 (assuming more characters were aged up) would tEcHnIcAlLy be around 29/30 ? potentially?
Deadlock was created when McCree was a teenager, not in 1976. The date on his tattoo is not the date it was created.
Yes, MEKA was created 20 years ago. MEKA used to use unmanned drones, until the Gwishin was able to adapt and disrupt the drone’s control network. So they started recruiting individuals with fast reflexes to pilot them (gamers, racecar drivers, etc.) only recently (not 10 years ago).
Shooting Star happens in present day, when D.Va is 19. OW2 is only a year after Recall, so she would be ~20.
Thank you. The only thing that threw me off about the tattoo is that it is a canonical tattoo being part of the blackwatch skin, but you’re right, 1976 could easily be a different incarnation of the gang, or just someones birth year on the dev team, etc etc.
And that MEKA stuff makes sense too. Like i always assumed that that’s modern D.va, but was just curious how others saw it too…
