Climbing is 100% Luck

Even the solo queue unranked to GM videos. It’s all 100% luck. Give a top 500 a 5-stack of themselves and 4 consistently bad players and they will not climb even out of silver (assuming comp is based on wins).

I’ve always wondered why some platinum/diamond players play evidently worse than some hard stuck bronze players. It’s 100% luck. There’s no adjusting to your team, if your team is trash, it’s trash.

Even LeBron James can’t win every finals with the garbage he brings there. 2016 was nothing but faith and luck.

Not even luck, it’s the matchmaker

it determines if it’s your turn to “win” or “lose”. Your performance does not matter unless you are OWL carrying

Ya. No.

You’re not a Gm because you don’t play at a GM level. Not because you’re unlucky

Stop blaming things for your rank other than your own skills. Match making sucks- but it’s not what’s got you at your rank. You’re why you’re at the rank you’re at.

Dude, it’s all luck. Just hope the matchmaker finds you a team that’s having a good day and happy climbing.

You are delusional. Yes, it’s possible to get some unwinnable games. Even a GM can lose in Diamond if his team is horrible while the enemy has one or two smurfs, but in the end it’s not luck. In the end you eventually climb if you deserve a higher rank.

I’m not saying I should be a GM, but damn how the hell do I end up with the team of dps that can’t even kill Mercy or Kiriko at least TWICE every freaking game without ult’ing? Already bad enough as a tank that bullets are flying my way non-stop. I kill one support and my entire backline falls from behind every. single. time…

I just had to close my PC and meditate. I’m giving the game a break.

Nah I think they have a point. For starters, each win/loss is influenced by the players in the match. This means the win/loss is due to queuing at exactly a specific point in time. Of course, this also means you had to have gotten into Overwatch at an exactly specific moment in time in order to have arrived at the moment where you decided to queue for the match. That also means you must have gotten into PC gaming at the right time to discover OW. That also means you would have had to have been born at the right time in order to arrive at the exact time you got into PC gaming. This also means your parents and ancestors must have met each other at the right time and conceived you at the right time in order to get your exact date of birth right.

Eventually, we realize that the big bang must have occurred at the right time in order for you to see “DEFEAT” on your screen at the present moment. It’s pretty much all luck.

Next time I lose I’m blaming it on the empty void of space from 13.8 billion years ago.

You’re not climbing with a negative win rate. It is what it is. Game doesn’t even properly address what to change or do to climb up. No visible progression or any sign or indication that you’re even playing in the correct elo.

Why the hell can’t my dps apply pressure like the enemies’ ?! I’m tired of having to try hard every damn game just to lose and when I do end up on a good team we just steam roll the other and that isn’t fun either. I want a damn balanced game. This is some crap.

You technically can if you gain more MMR for a win than you lose for a loss.

I agree with this genius take. I obviously was conceived at the wrong time and therefore I will remain in the metal ranks not even going against other metal ranks, but high platinum/diamond players instead, while e-girl mercy main streamers casually get carried into top 500 so their fans can buy them a tesla.

Show me one unranked to GM video with a negative winrate. Are these people just the luckiest humans alive?

Bro there are none because they are indeed the luckiest people at the moment.

Should they had used their luck for a lottery ticket at the time instead of a smurfing video? Yes, and I believe they would had profited more than what youtube brought in.

edit:) and think about their teammates being LUCKY enough to end up with a smurf on their team to help them win. Wild isn’t it.

I guess top ranks should be renamed to lucky500 then

Show me one of your games. I will tell you why you are horrible.

I just gave up climbing solo as Support because of the current judging system and randos that sometimes are so horrible that boosts my Deaths.

Yes bro. Flats is garbage. He even complained about his supports in OW2 not keeping up with him, thus him giving up on Rein. Nah, bro is garbage and his fanbase won’t acknowledge that he over extends all the time and is saved by his lucky matchmade team. Streamers all lucked up.

This also doesn’t make sense. How can smurfs exist if climbing is all luck? Are smurfs all hard stuck silvers just getting lucky when they eventually climb out?

Before the new ranking system, winning/losing the match determined whether you lost/gained SR. BUT your personal performance determines how much SR you lose/gain from the match, if youre playing well, youd need to just win once to regain the SR of two losses. If all theyve done is make the actual number hidden and they didnt change much else on how the system works, I’d say its not really that much luck. If youre consistently making top kills on the leaderboard or top healing you should climb.

The problem is that rein is not viable to play safe against overpowered heroes like orisa and hog, so he does the right thing, well attempts at least, but it just doesn’t work, and it shouldn’t work. He just needs to play what is meta in GM or will suck hard.
