Reason 1: Hey Winston, wanna drop that barrier soon?
Reason 2: Isn’t ice wall supposed to be giant enough to save a falling building?
Reason 3: Wanna use Primal Rage? No, k I’ll come back to you when you’re ready
Reason 4: Throws Pulse Bomb to Tracer even though Echo is already in the air, and very mobile…
Reason 5: Mercy showing up to heal Mei after Brigitte already just hit like 8 inspires shots.
Reason 6: Tracer telling Brigitte “she has grown so much” even though they are practically the same age, if not very close.
Lol I had a lot of fun making this shortened list of things that made Zero Sense, let me know what things you noticed about it that didn’t seem logical, or what things you enjoyed below
Look at Dvas, in game she’s “ lol gg ez gamer girl” etc personality and then the cinematic comes out and you expect us to buy that she’s some deep srs business character with ptsd that goes out of her way to clarify that the dude helping her is “just her friend” (to make sure all the creepy dva fans don’t get mad)
I can negate a whole lot of this list by the way of:
Gameplay does not equal lore
Brig doesn’t magically heal people by mashing others, that’s just a game mechanic as far as we know. The ability is called inspire for a reason
That said, I agree, this short made no sense:
They could have all saved a ton of time by letting Genji use his blade to cut up the entire freaking omnic
But that’s not the point, the point it’s showing teamwork and the characters with new looks.
Shame the lamest character gets to be center of attention: Winston
As apposed to the game, the heroes don’t necessarily have every ability and piece of gear in-universe working the same ways. As we saw in the Recall trailer, Winston’s bubble is a work in progress at that time.
The ice wall shown in Zero Hour is larger than the one which saved Mei while she was clutching to the falling communication’s tower.
Primal rage seems to be a reaction, less than it is an ability Winston can control.
Echo was more than likely sweeping up troops that were threatening other survivors, until she needed to distract the large Omnic, for merely a second or two. Otherwise, it was her job to at least scout the area as no one else (was there yet) who could fly over and check for survivors. Let alone, they hadn’t even realized the pulse bomb could be paired with Mei’s backpack, until she was out of sight, and needed to make a split second reaction.
Once again, the abilities in-game do not necessarily reflect the abilities of the characters in-universe, as they are presented. Brigitte inspires, but as a game mechanic, it heals you.
Brigitte: Age [23]
Tracer: Age [26]
(Was also gone from reality for give or take a few months/years depending on who you ask.)
Not a great difference, but as someone with friends that are merely 3 years younger than i am, seeing them after a few years would be shocking.
We must also remember that Lena was already a trained fighter pilot, while Brigitte only just learned to fight alongside Reinhardt.
Lena (Tracer) was a trained pilot when Reinhardt was still in Overwatch
Lena’s slipstream jet failed resulting in her condition, Winston invented something to rescue her, she joined Overwatch and her first mission was Uprising which still has Reinhardt in it.
And Talon characters playing on the same team as OW members ingame does make sense?
Personally I love these cinematics (this one included) SO freakin much that I couldn’t care less about these little inconsistencies (if you can even call 'm that). I wish they had the resources to release more of them and more often
What i’m proposing is that Tracer may not have aged at the same rate after the accident, but that doesn’t matter.
She’s tethered to the present time, but nothing was ever stated about her physical age.
The difference between seeing someone after a few years is still worth being all shocked and adorable.
The interesting part about Tracer’s first mission, is that it was alongside Reinhardt, Torbjorn, and Mercy.
With Ana on the coms from their main HQ, who hands it off half way to Reyes who hadn’t (at least clearly) gone through any strange transformation yet.
Tracer joined before the fall of Overwatch, but somewhere during it’s later years, presumably at the same time as Genji, who is older now than he looks…
Cinematics are canon… the gameplay you’re expecting to see in said cinematics is not canon. Kinda like how Zen doesn’t use healing orb nor discord in real life.
I highly doubt Mei can Ice Block to heal irl. I also highly doubt she can instantly send up a giant wall like during a match… instead having to build one with her spray like she did protecting that cop. (But I’d have to rewatch her Eco-Point cinematic to see if she can instantly build a wall or not.)
Do we have confirmation that it’s canon that Brig heals when she melees… again, not just in gameplay? Maybe Mercy healing Mei was the cinematic equivalent of an ingame Rez I suspect human beings don’t turn into glowing soul orbs irl.
And Echo would have been a bad choice to give the Pulse Bomb to because she doesn’t have Recall… it might have been suicidal for Echo to place the bomb inside of the giant Omnic and then be unable to escape the blast radius in time.
You’ve got me stumped on Primal Rage… but did you really think the rest of these out?
As for Primal Rage, it seems to be a side effect of Winston’s genetic engineering.
The “Effects” are just for show, but even in the trailers he does change physically.
I’d say it’s more of a physical reaction to uncontrollable rage.
In Zero Hour, he was beaten and tired… willing to sacrifice himself to save innocents, because it was his duty.
We see him rage two times in trailers, once when being electrocuted and having his own computer hacked while he can’t do anything, and another time when Winston’s (The scientist) Glasses were crushed under Reaper’s boot.
(I still wanna know how he fixed them.)
Whoops, correction.
Three times, have we seen him rage.
The third being when Tracer’s chronal accelerator was ripped from her by DoomFist, causing her to glitch through time again, a potentially deadly turn of events.
