For anyone that doesn’t know what a chloromancer is. It’s basically a person that deals in plant magic. Kinda like poison ivy, Madara, cosmos ect. Choose your poison.
I think it would be cool to have a hero that knew how to accelerate the growth of plants to do various things.
Whether it’s a dps, healer or tank. It would be a really interesting fun theme for overwatch.
Just ideas for to help get idea.
Plant or mushroom that are bouncy that act as trampolines
plants that release spores doing area damage or debuffs
Carvivarous plant traps that may strike users if they get near or onto of it.
sticky plants that slow
poison plants that provide dots
As a kit I was thinking something like.
Primary: Something like a mix of a grenade launcher and a low fire rate automatic rifle.
That shoots pellets of spores that explode on impact doing damage to targets that stand where it explodes. The damage would be relative low since it’s aoe that lingers. And the aoe will be small and short.
Secondary would charge up shots the longer you hold it allowing you to burst 3-5 of them together to stack damage.
Ability 1: drain shot. This would be a skill shot ability similar to sleep dart. It shoots a seed like the infamous leech seed that will slowly drain a targets health over a long period of time. Something like 500 damage but over 12 seconds. On a 20 second cooldown.
Ability 2: bounce shroom. You can immediately throw out a bouncy mushroom allowing players to use it to get air or reach highground on the spot.
Ultimate. Photocannon
This is basically a light cannon. It’s shot that takes some time to charge once you activate and gets stronger the longer you hold it. Ranging from 50-1000 damage. When you fire it. You shoot a single beam of light energy that goes out piercing shields and structures. Hitting any target in its direct path for the damage amount charged. Think this would be a super cool ultimate that would bring out some really interesting plays.
Anways this is just a idea that can go many ways. Any thoughts?
Having one which you fire, which has a long long range, which gains in strength the more damage it does (think sym beam, but bigger, nastier, and scales up a lot quicker).
It would be the ducks nuts at breaking bunker, and would combine well with Grav.
My main problem off-hand is just how strange it would be to have a straight-up wizard in the Overwatch universe, which isn’t exactly a myths and magic kind of world.
That’s pretty much the idea. It would beam shot that goes forever in range that shoots through everything in its path. Plus it can go up too 1000 in its shot. Would be crazy. I was thinking it paired with widows ult also where you can pretty much aim for anything through the walls and nothing can hide lol
I will say, I love the idea of a hero who makes trampoline bounce pads for their team. I like Petra and Chateau Widowmaker because of their trampolines.
It wouldn’t be magic. It would be futuristic science that speeds up their growth + gene editing to make them more tailored to combat. Kinda like how Moira is magic by not. The hero could a botanist that works with genetics
Nope, the rag is only covered in chlorophyll. You try to hold it up to their face but it only smears gross green stuff all over and then they kill you.
There are lichen that absorb radioactive metals from the air, mosses that produce explosive spores, and plants that produce a variety of performance engancing/reducing drugs.
I’m sure they could come up with a uniqe concept for a plant based hero, although personally I’d like them to have a (very slightly) more grounded, realistic approach to its utilization. Like someone who implants photosynthetic bacteria into allies, and uses self-mounted plants as a chemical defense.
I have poison ivy right now, it’s not fun at all. I’d definitely have to be really careful when playing with or against someone like that. it’s contagious too. Don’t want to infect the teammates. They wouldn’t be too happy. People might call you a teamkiller and report you for doing that. Even if you didn’t mean to. It’s not really your fault, it’s hard to avoid doing. Like if you get it, you should just hole yourself up in a room for a while or something.
I know what chloro means, I studied classic languages in school.
This is the leap, that in my opinion, is contrived. Especially if their kit involves fungi. Maybe “green magic” is an established thing that I just haven’t heard of before, idk.
And yes, I know about Chlorophyll in plants which gives leaves their green colour and allows them to photosynthesise.
Fungi is just a addition I thought of. Also it is. If I could I provide links I would give you some so you could see more on it but I guess you can also google if it interests you enough.
Chloromancy, green magic, garden magic , plant magic are all just diffrent terms for the same thing.
