Cheats have completely saturated this game at all levels

I’ve been GM, I’ve been top 500, cheats have always been in this game mostly pooling around Plat. I got to high rank by knowing they exist and countering them with strafe techniques.

Right now, cheats are in every single rank, they are in quickplay. It’s an aim assist that looks natural if you don’t know any better.

I can’t even play this game for fun anymore. I made it my goal to rank up, I did it. Now I want to put my old skillsets behind and build up new ones.

But I keep running into the same problem, people are BLATANTLY CHEATING IN MID RANKS.

I can win games easy still, but I have to play a vary narrow playstyle that I am sick of. I shouldnt have to play anti-cheat every single game just to win. I can’t build up a new playstyle because I identify a cheater and have to strafe/spam to counter them, and spend my entire game keeping them down. That’s all I end up doing EVERY GAME. It’s like playing vs AI and not humans, it’s like fighting the exact same person every game.

The worst part, teammates will throw fits when they start to lose completely unware of the reasons. This game is in the worst shape it’s ever been in.

The main cheat has been undetected for over a year. You can google “Overwatch Aimbot” and find it with no effort, and you will only be banned if you are caught manually.

I know all games have these problems. But because the biggest hacks NEVER get shut down, all the cheaters flock to this game who otherwise wouldn’t even play it. Once the game is saturated like it is now, the main playerbase starts cheating too.

It’s not what you guys think. It’s Ana bots, it’s Mcree’s spamming flick shots that look natural if you don’t know better, it’s not just the Widows. It’s not a blatant old school aimbot. It’s completely ruined this game.

gonna be straight up I’ve played probably ~2k plat games since May and I’ve encountered maybe one cheater that was likely wallhacking. Otherwise this game is pretty clear of cheaters from what I’ve seen over 4 years.

You have encountered them in nearly every game and you have no idea.

That’s awesome that you think that, but I haven’t.

If you think toggling is that big of an issue, report and move on. Or it’s just somebody getting a lucky shot.

Report the clips and the person in question and they’ll get banned. Idk what else to tell you except you are DEFINITELY blowing out way out of proportion.

Honestly I feel like it is an issue, especially in quick play given there are times when someone shoots willy nilly, and then just 100-0’s you with little to no thought being put into how their shooting. I do agree its very subtle, yet its definitely there and not part of the game like some think.

It’s unreportable at the moment. The aim assist looks natural to most people. I don’t report everyone using it because I know they won’t get caught, I sometimes report the ones who are new at it and messing up hiding it.

Like I said, I can detect who is using it with 100% accuracy. I use a strafe technique and if someone is using the bot they will react the EXACT same way to my movements. They will start swinging in an unnatural way and miss most of their shots. It gets stupid.

These cheats do not lock on, or headshot like old bots.

They rely on a movement prediction. They use an FOV window, and anyone inside this FOV’s movement will be recorded and calculated when fire is pressed.

It’s about .5 seconds of movement that is recorded to base the calculation on, so when strafing at a certain speed the prediction will always think you will continue your path of movement just as you strafe the other direction.

It’s hard putting this in words and explaining it, but it’s skills I learned in Quake 3 fighting hard AI. It’s actually very similar.

The combination of consistent shots and wallhacks gives players in lower ranks such a huge advantage it is causing toxicity to skyrocket. These are not smurfs people.

I’m on console so can’t really feel your pain. Maybe play against thousands of smurfs and lets get coffee.

Just because someone has better aim than you doesn’t mean they are a cheater.

I’ve been thinking about moving to console… I really just wanna play this game casually and the cheats combined with player toxicity is causes just ruins it.

You blame people’s skills where you’re lacking in; aim.

you do know how common the cheats are right, it isn’t supposed to be obvious since the devs don’t really have a great anti cheat either

hell someone was advertising a free cheat in around Novemeber on the forums

Can we see a replay code?

They do not aim better. I can kill them easier than a skilled player. If left alone they will hit consistently so I am forced to spend my entire gaming shutting them down. These people have poor skills for their rank, little awareness outside of what wallhacks give them.

I am not complaining cause I am losing to them. I got to ranks higher than 99.9% of people will ever obtain.

I’m going to agree that hacks are very subtle now and most people have no idea they are being used.

This is why I main KovaaKs now. At least I know I’m not cheating lol…

So you think strafe techniques are a bigger counter to cheats than they are to normal, human players? I almost feel like you’re joking, because the whole point of strafeing is to take advantage of “human error” in the form of the typical human’s 200ms reaction time.

If someone is effortlessly shooting me with a non-horizontal flick despite my strafeing, that’s who I suspect of hacking. I’m under no delusions that my strafeing can somehow beat a cheat.

Strafing left/right/left/right with no variation at all will counter aim assist. I’ve explained it further up.

It leaves you more open to being hit by enemy zen or torb or anyone who spams in the center of your strafe, but you will enter the Matrix vs cheaters.

The first couple misses will swing their cursor to the left and right of you, where the bots prediction thinks you are moving. If they continue to try and spam you, the misses will start moving further and further away left and right.

To put it simply, their misses will start gaining momentum and swing rapidly left to right getting further away maxing out at about 5 character widths. It’s really stupid to watch once you learn the trick. Every player cheating will react in the exact same manner, it’s undisputable not human once you learn how to do this.

Often players will visually pause in a WTF moment. They probably feel like their bot is malfunctioning and they will get caught. Some will stop trying to hit me at all, or they will try to flick into the strafe from an outside point.

That’s a pretty specific type of projectile aimbot (which are already the most difficult kinds to make). Most hacks that I’ve heard of don’t even bother with prediction.

You only mentioned hitscans in your post though, so how does what you’re doing help against a typical hitscan flick toggle aimbot?

This sounds like the most useless cheat I have ever seen in my life.

Strafing works on flicks too, it works very well vs Widow. They look less obvious they are cheating with the flick, but they still can’t hit you well.

It’s Soldiers and Ashe who spam and show their bot blatantly.

You got to try it to believe me. Go Torb, strafe fast about a character width at close range and 2 character widths at long range. You can be hit on entering and exiting the strafe, it’s hard to get right. I was going to make a video but I feel like Blizzard will just shut it down and delete posts so it’s not worth my effort.

With favor the shooter mechanics that OW has it really doesn’t. You can aimbot lock to someone’s head as fast as your screen’s refresh rate.

Think of spin bots - try to strafe vs them when they can headshot someone behind them so quickly that it doesn’t even look like their screen moved at all. They’re not using prediction - they can just instantly point their cursor at the xyz coords of someone’s head at a current time, shoot them, then reset all in a matter of milliseconds.

Maybe it works on some aimbots, and I recommend strafeing regardless as it helps a lot vs human players, but I really don’t think this is a helpful tip to specifically counter hitscan aimbots like Widow.

That’s only true if you are “rage hacking”. Those types are detectable even from novice FPS players. I used to make autohotkey bots like that years ago, it’s easy to make a bot hit dead on and snap perfect… it’s hard to make them look natural like modern ones.

The reason the strafe works is because these cheats are meant to be natural. They use movement prediction and randomization.

If they could hit a fast strafe, they would also be blatant under other conditions like fast moving targets and accidently snapping to fast unpredictable movements like players being booped into the FOV. There is this little window you can operate in because of the nature of them to counter the aim assist.
