I have a far better experience with this game in ranked then I do in QP. The amount of players that are insta locking on my head and then saying I am on console aim assist is overwhelming.
I have had this game sense launch and FTP has brought in the filth. What is being observed in QP is unreal to me always had more fun in QP then in ranked. I would prefer ranked over QP at this time.
I truly do not think this game has an anticheat and it is going haywire with console. If this is aim assist then let PC players opt out of crossplay and not just console players. Better yet let controller players on pc have aim assist and if playing with KB/M it would be turned off like in warzone.
I only play QP and in the past week or two there’s been a serious uptick in hackers. Must be their New Year’s Resolution or something. Cheat to win in casual mode.
Probably can be either one. Kinda dumb that Aim assist is allowed in crossplay but they haven’t approve Mkb for console to potentially eliminate Xim aim assist abusers
That isn’t aim assist, it’s often how some streamers talk about concealed aimbot and it’s carried over into the viewers. For example; streamer suddenly has awful aim vs bot lobby or aim goes unexpectedly wild “wow, I just lost my aim assist” aka “my aimbot has crashed in background or bugged out”. There are very, very few cases of genuine aim assist failure.
It’s easy to check if they’re cross platform players in Overwatch or cheaters poking fun due to the crossplay symbol.
Aim assist on console is just stickyness and friction rather than any sort of insta lock or auto target. if you want headshots its still based on aiming. The aim assist much more just helps with tracking overall character blobs than anything else. Pretty much just gives friction while aiming in the area around a character and makes the smaller aim adjustments easier cuz the friction slows down reticle movement. It doesnt help on characters that arnt hitscan much since all the projectile heroes have to lead shots and the aim assist actually hinders that slightly cuz you have to fight it to accurately predict where they will go unless youre point-blank. Most likely youre running into cheaters rather than console players. F2p games get more cheaters since the games readily available without having to buy it. Its More so on the devs ability to ban them rather than on whether or not they are popping up.
I still agree that PC should be able to opt out of any form of cross play if they desire tho, no reason for them to not have the option.
There are dozens of cheaters man. The game is f2p. I get emails time to time telling me some cheater I reported got banned lol.
Cheaters smurfs you can never escape them in a f2p
Forced crossplay is infuriating, I hate it. Every few games I have console players on my team. I didn’t ask for it, I wanna play with people from my platform.
And yeah, cheaters are definitely on the rise. It’s a f2p title now, there are no risks.
Off topic because it seems we are discussing aimbotters (a PC exclusive problem) but what does it matter if you have console players? Do you say the same about Mac or Linux users and just want Windows only?
Console aim assist doesn’t snap, so if it did that it was likely a cheater. See this for reference:
I played this game on console from 2016 to 2018, I know both worlds. There is now way a controller can compete against M&K. No chance.
Ow on console feels like the game is running in slow motion. I don’t want people on my team that takes 2 seconds to turn around.
Not to mention the Ximers abusing aim assist on Widow. Disgusting.
No, because we are using the same platform and input devices. It’s about fairness.
I agree. I think most claims that controllers with aim assist are better than M+KB are ludicrous, but that being said I do think PC players should have the right to opt out if they really want.
However, I do find it hilarious that console players have complained for years about people using XIM and being told it’s a “skill issue” but now that people on PC experience what it’s like fighting someone with both M+KB and aim assist it’s a problem.
But they do. Maybe not hitscan in t500 comp but they can certainly compete in quick play. I have a friend who uses controller on his PC with no aim assist as Overwatch doesn’t support it. You wouldn’t be tilting over that though as you wouldn’t know as it doesn’t show as crossplay.
The truth is there are a number of PC players that use controllers [and other input methods] because they can and want to or even have to due to injury or physical impairment. Xim or similar with aim assist on a console is also much less severe than aimbotting, auto ability and ultimate cheats that you see on PC too.
It does now. They added aim assist for console players in crossplay lobbies.
Honestly, whenever I see someone struggling in qp I automatically think they’re new and wonder why they got placed in that lobby, regardless which team. When I go to check their profile to see if they’re really new, most of the time they’re crossplay, not new.
I really would like an option to opt out, because in most cases it’s a steamroll.
Aim assist is not active when standing still.
That’s weird, my aim has gently been “dragged” when standing still playing Ana. Sadly I’ve deleted that video and can’t show it. In the video I posted you can also see me move and shoot without the aim doing any “snapping” to the target. I’ll make a new video in the future where I move to show how it works, if there’s anything else I should be doing please feel free to add it to the list.
The aim assist is active when you are moving the character, or moving the aim of the character. (even if you’re slightly tilting the stick, it counts as movement, so it’s possible with a tiny bit of drift that aim assist will kick in)
OW1 aim assist was waaaaay stronger. It’s been toned down. (although it feels the same for some characters like ashe… weird)
Aim assist is disabled if you hold your sights still. You need to slightly move the stick to a direction and back to actually see how it works
Also yeah hackers are on the rise. I’ve already reported a few of them that toggled which is nuts compared to OW1 where during the entire life of the game I could count the hackers I encountered with my fingers and toes over 6-7 years of playing the game. This is why nobody wanted f2p
Yeah, when I tried McCree I barely felt the aim assist compared to OW1. Sometimes when playing Ana it was a hassle as it was just as likely to draw my fire to the enemy as it was to the person I was healing, but you kinda got accustomed to it and learned to aim with it. Might be one of the reasons OW2 felt “wrong” when I tried it. I can see if I can get better footage of me actually moving and aiming, I just don’t want to expose overly much just how I am.
Crossplay should be opt outable for pc players.
But if you wonder about aim assist, any console players in the lobby will have the “crossplay icon” next to their name badge.
This way you can tell what was going on.
Also aim assist is probably quite good if people happen to be Ximming. As in my understanding many GM/t500 level console players are.
