At this point, I’d rather play competitive with people in the PC pool than on console. The Ximming and Cronus issue on console is at an all time high right now and the game is worse than ever before.
If you don’t know what a Xim or Cronus is, imagine mouse and keyboard input with controller aim assist. Its unfair and basically text book definition cheating.
It’s only in high elo (for obvious reasons) and games are pretty much based on whoever gets the ximmer on their team.
Can you guys issue a statement or something? Something to get these cheaters to at least think twice about doing it, or maybe issue bans or something? The game is UNPLAYABLE at a high ranks unless I’m willing to dish out $200 to buy external hardware just so I can be at an even playing field.
A streamer hosted a contest Master Console players vs Silver PC players. Silver PC players won 2/3 games. There’s just no strategy against the sensitivity.
Ximming has been an issue since OW1 day one. Blizzard will do nothing. They state “there’s no way to tell”. But, there is, you can regulate sensitivity output. Fortnite literally did this.
I suggest you never join the PC world, lol. If someone has a faster computer, better graphics card, better monitor, better mouse/keyboard etc, they will have an EXTREME advantage over someone playing on a “potato computer.” That’s just how it is. But, I don’t really consider that to be cheating.
And yes, XIM isn’t supported, so you could KIND OF call it cheating. But, if you step out of the, “it’s not ‘allowed’ bubble,” it’s really just someone has better hardware than you. Which, isn’t really cheating. Either that, or tons of PC players are cheating.
And I had to google what cronus zen is, and yeah, I’d call that cheating. That’s a lot different than XIM though, which is just a mouse and keyboard. (Cronus zen allows you to program scripts and macros, such as anti-recoil).
There is no way to catch XIM. Fortnite has not been able to.
When you can buy external hardware to make your AIM better, it’s quite literally cheating. Having better hardware, for an example, would be PS4 players playing against PS5 players.
Buying a Xim or Cronus to make your AIM better, is the same as buying cheats off a website, except the cheats plug directly into your console.
Aimbotting and hacking is more of a problem imo. I’ve seen widows that are sitting at near 100% crit accuracy and somehow know where I am without visor being up. Then I’ll watch pro players who sit at 20-25 percent crit accuracy so I know it’s some bs. It’s so much more common than it was in ow1
The amount of mental gymnastics here to justify cheating is insane.
Using a Xim to use a mouse and keyboard on console is cheating and frowned upon, plain and simple. If you have the cash to spend on a Xim, then you most probably have a computer to play OW on if keyboard and mouse input is that important to you. You are absolutely delusional if you believe people that choose to buy these adapters to exclusively play on console do so only for the benign purpose of “improving their hardware”, and no, drawing a parallel to computer upgrading is invalid.
Just add in official support for M&KB and put the users in PC pools. It won’t stop people who just want to run over controller lobbies for free wins, but most people just want to play the game with a proper control scheme. Xim isn’t perfect, so a better, official option will have a lot of people swap to that instead.
I don’t see what the debate is here…
Cheating is defined as having an unfair advantage, which using a mouse and keyboard clearly is. What’s the point of a console only pool if you then play against m&k players? Defeats the point entirely.
Saying you can also use m&k is like saying “well, they’re cheating, so why don’t you as well?” it makes zero sense to me as it doesn’t resolve the issue, it actually makes it worse in the long run as a greater proportion of players will be using m&k out of frustration. It leads to more stomps and one sided matches, hence the complaints about current matchmaking.
Only cheaters would try to justify this as it is in everyone’s interest to have the best level playing field possible. It leads to fairer matches and a better experience. This is true for anything competitive, be it a sport or video games.
I also don’t believe companies can’t detect XIM. I just find it hard to believe when we are soon on our way to developing quantum computers on a commercial scale, but can’t detect a basic peripheral?
I think it’s more of a case they simply cannot be bothered to allocate resources to this issue until it becomes a noticeable problem from their point of view, but that’s just a hunch.
I mean, in all reality, WHY don’t you? Blizzard could just add in official support for M&KB and throw its users into the PC pool (like every other console shooter in the last 7 years) but they don’t.
It’s left a lot of the userbase to use Xim to enjoy this game, having to stomp controller lobbies as a sad side effect. Why don’t you also use it? Make it a big enough problem until Blizzard adds it in and gives us a better option. It’s a downright joke that it isn’t here yet.
Except, anyone can buy a xim. And apparently a lot of people do, so, no, you DON’T have a completely different input method than those you are playing against…
Um, it’s NOT the same. Someone with a better DPI and extra mouse buttons and better lasers and all the fanciness, does NOT have the same input method as me.
Yeah, we’re both using a mouse, it’s just theirs is WAY BETTER.
That’s fine if you believe that. I mean, someone with a faster computer inputs signals quicker to the server, they can headshot me before I headshot them, even if we both shoot at the same time. I don’t call it cheating, it’s just a part of gaming. But if you want to call it cheating, that’s fine.
So is having a faster internet connection. Or a better graphics card. Or a 144hz monitor vs a 60hz monitor. All these things are unfair. The “debate” is simply that PC has to deal with this all the time. It’s funny that console has ONE thing different, and it’s CHEATING!!!
That’s like saying, everyone will just buy a top of the line computer, because it gives you an advantage.
I did, otherwise I wouldn’t have responded. Fortnite can, and has detected cronus, but not XIM. Which is why I said fortnite cannot detect XIM. Thanks for flagging me though
