Cheating is still a thing

For the last several seasons when they implicate The Matrix system which is garbage they’re still a significant amount of cheaters. There was a Blog claiming that they banned 5,000 players for cheating which I think it’s horse… and you guys know the rest. A huge amount of Smurf issue continues as well which these people have technically nothing better to do but start a new account play their gas 50 quick play match just to activate competitive? The biggest problem with this system like any other game is they don’t go by IP address of every console PC system that is out there in this country if they would have known that one player is creating 17 accounts on a free to play game then that’s just highly pathetic that this company can’t see the iceberg of the issue.

Idk anything about this “matrix system” because I don’t keep up with everything Overwatch/Blizzard, but welcome to video games? I haven’t played a single mass multiplayer game that doesn’t have cheaters…

It sucks, it’s not fun but there is next to nothing anyone-including devs can do about it, all it takes is one zero day, to spread like wild fire and cheats will be developed into the millions, and if you ban all the cheaters they will get back on spoofing and masking their ips and be able to continue to play for who knows how long, they can write scripts to make one new OW account every hour, minute, second, it will NEVER not be a problem for any game.

The issue with “checking ips to see who creates 17 accounts” is I can run to my local library and make accounts from there… which defeats that very easily. Also if they’re not the Police, they won’t have the tech, unless they have a very skilled hacker to see if someone is spoofing or masking their ip so you ban that ip and low and behold lil Timmy can no longer play his favourite game after school lol

Every only multiplayer game is going to have cheaters. Hell during an Apex championship a player was hacked live during.

I just found this gem: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FrMsy1Us-xQ

Skip to @21:00 to see how they devolve into fully cranked up cheating (with some features I’ve never even seen before). This particular video is a great case study because you get to see what cheats look like from subtle all the way to fully-cranked as the game progresses. (Actually, it starts off already blatant from the start in this video, but the progression from that point forward is still quite impressive.) As Flats points out, it reveals the gaslighting when we detect cheating is happening but it’s not cranked up fully.

No. You’re not crazy. Cheats are very real and usually very subtle.
