The amount of cheaters in the past 2 days has been really out of the usual.
Blizzard forgot to update the anti-cheat?

When they made OW F2P, there’s no repercussions to having your account banned. They can just create another, and another, and another, and keep on cheating.

@ Mistikas Incorrect, there are several layers of anti-cheat involved with this game including both usermode techniques and server-sided analytics on player data. I won’t deny that cheating is rampant however.

this has been a known issue since OW became F2P the dev’s are just struggling to keep up/deal with the influx + they are probably (hopefully gosh
) trying to find a better way to detect them besides using what valorant has which is better in some ways, but worse in others.

The problem is with valorants anti-cheat it creates vulnerabilities that just shouldn’t exist, and this is in no way the players (real players) fault. If you can’t make a game or a product that can’t deter cheaters without putting the normal players PC’s or devices at risk than you shouldn’t be doing it.

Even back in the day they could detect cheaters a lot quicker and the way they got back at the cheaters was a lot more brutal I remember when dev’s made it so NPC’s or invulnerable mob’s or death npc’s would spawn in games and just obliterate a cheater mid game then ban them as a screw you and a visual sign to others that this will happen to them if they cheat.

The problem is how quickly you can get a new account to be eligible for ranked.

I get they don’t want to make a huge grind for genuine new players, but I’m pretty sure they could justify an increase in the number of hours/games required. If someone is really interested in the game, its not actually that big a deal - learning heroes takes time and there’s an ever increasing amount of them. Someone honestly new to the game isn’t going to worry about it, they know once its done its done.

Might also reduce smurfing a bit too.
