emphasized textCurrently people just don’t talk. Is it because they are all banned from talking? Or afraid they will get banned for saying anything? Gone are the days people communicate to make a better team comp or discuss counters… now it’s just ggez at the end. When you speak up you get gang reported - people are so soft these days. And banning for 13 days is just idiotic - no wonder this game is in such a bad state. I started overwatch very early on before any new heroes were added. It’s just sad that it’s just a really badly managed game now. I’m not surprised it’s got such bad reviews these days.
With “speaking up”, do you mean trying to communicate a plan with your team or sh*t talking them?
Cause I use text chat regularly and have never gotten a ban
I mean you can apparently also be muted for not saying anything.
They just need to legitimately have actual humans look into mass-reports to see if it was warranted or just people being mad that their tiny egos got popped.
Yes. Don’t say anything. You don’t know them and they don’t know you. Get a group and talk to them and that’s it.
Your communication consist of “glhf” and “gg”?
among other things like friendly banter with team mates and enemies, yes?
I don’t use chat as a passive protest against the always-on monitoring and automated punishment systems.
I do this despite historically having a lot more success and witnessing far less in-team toxicity when I was openly communicating and coordinating with my team.
Aint’ that a hoot? The game is more toxic when I don’t talk.
All you gotta do is win a one sided stomp… and “gg” is aruguably reportable…
Because someone like me looks at context and says “they must mean Get good” or they are just cluelless and its an automated thing. Which is just as bad
Reporting all falls upon how the reporter choses to interpret what was said… doesnt matter what you said or what you intended
The fact that blizzard doesn’t review anything as well as promoting a pack mentality, has allowed the report system to become a bullying tool…
Which why countless innocent people get punushed why the people who abuse it use numbers to mitigate potential consequences.
I mean if your solo and have a 4top whos treating you badly… and you defend yourself…
1 report for each of them… 4 reports for you… whos going to get punished first?
True. Because 99% of the time you don’t need to.
Probably because they don’t want to, and have no desire to try communicate with over caffeinated teenagers who can’t control their emotions, or think abuse is “banter”.
In game no. This doesn’t happen. They MIGHT gang up and report you in 1 match. But does nothing… unless you’ve been annoying people repeatedly in the games before that.
Sadly, on these forums, I can confirm there are people who do mass flag things. But the person responsible for that has issues of their own they want to be dealing with.
I am not surprised either. And it has nothing to do with the game. It is all to do with people these days. Reviews aren’t genuine reviews anymore. They are either tilted brain farts, or someone trying to be “funny”>
Don’t start none, won’t be none.
Sometimes the best course of action is the silent one.
You don’t always have to be louder than the loudest jerk in the room.
honestly this community takes anything the wrong way, people saying gg is reportable are borderline oversensitive to a complete fault. Its better to just not use it anymore imo, especially since blizzard caters towards those kinds of people.
the ganging up is a very real thing… its just its mostly a solo queue experience…
I like to troll them… it doesn’t take much to get them to screaming slurs at me… or telling me i need to “kill myself”…
While it doesnt bother me personally, things like that should be zero tolerance… but my 1 report doesnt do anything…
Nor do i respond to them so they cant “abusive chat” report… and while i am trolling i stay within the rules of “gameplay sabotage” so they cant report that either
But if i say literally anything to them they will report me and will be considered valid reports
It is certainly something that can, in theory happen in a match.
Won’t impact a solo player though, unless they’ve been reported so many times before that it tips it over.
You need to be reported so many times to get any actions. So if you get something, it is because you’ve been a pain for a prolonged period of time. Not because 1 group decided you were annoying 1 game.
Not enturely… the number of reports made against you is only one part…
So 4 reports against you in a single lobby
. Seems to hold more weight. Than 1 report per match across 4 matches does…
This might be true.
It won’t get you banned, silenced, or anything. It would need to be multiple reports from multiple games.
I just dont chat at all anymore… troll to my hearts content and report ragers…
Eventually either no one will be allowed to communicate, or no one will be getting punished… im just doing my part to help bring one of those senarios to reality
Blizzard enforced a major policy change that is automated reports are 100% relied on and that players can false report players.
So essentially “yes” most people are turning off match chat and muting people and not talking for that reason.
If someone says anything remotely light-mild to slightly offensive and they get reported. It doesn’t take long for penalties to go into effect.
Saying “Can we please get insert hero name here?” can get you reported. I have seen countless people lose their temper because I asked for a switch without being a d**k about it.
People on OW have very fragile ego’s that if you even mention the word switch, you must be insulting them on their quality of play.
If that is what makes the game fun for you, more power to you.
I don’t chat either, because I just play to chill out. I don’t need to listening to juiced up teenagers trying to be funny.
But what if they signed in to play the video game, and play the hero they enjoy. They might have a limited play time, so just want to play what they find fun…
Then some dude is telling them what they should play… what they should do…
Yeah, I get why that would annoy people personally. Even if you have the best intentions, you can still just p!ss them off.
