šŸ“ˆ Bastion Poll Thread: How do you, the average non-Bastion player, want to buff Bastion?

I feel he needs to get nerfed.

He has a high health pool and good self sustain, high damage.

He’s the type of hero that you need a counter on your team to deal with his kit.

Have you fought a Bastion recently? Just look at him funny, and he’ll fall over dead… Also, https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/overwatch/t/stop-sign-bastion-is-being-forgotten/32040/2967. There’s some info about his damage output, it’s actually pretty low once you factor in his lack of headshots and very large spread.

I main dva 99% of my matches. Her boosters can’t even move him when he is entrenched

It is a level 1 account without any games. He is just a troll. Ignore him.

Why should he? Are you drunk?

He’s immune to most CC in Sentry, yes.

You shouldn’t be fighting him alone as D.va, he’ll just shred you. Tell your team that you’re going to DM him, wait for them to be ready, do it, and fire missiles at the same time. Alternatively, go Roadhog and hook him, he’s basically dead at that point if your team has literally any followup.

He plays on Playstation 4.

I can’t go road hog because his name isn’t dva

And I think its a bit unfair that he’s immune to all CC as he should be punished for poor positioning.

Also I play on PS4 and communicating is also impossible as most players dont have ps4 mics.

I have one question

How to you write your name?

ā€œmostā€ I thought nobody had it.
hugs you i feel you bro

Bastion isn’t immune to all CC. You can stun him.
Bastion counters D.va in a 1v1 fight, you can’t win against one with D.va unless he is bad or low health.

If he wasn’t, he would be literally useles. Doomfist could just jump in and punch him with literally no chance for counterplay from the Bastion. Bastion doesn’t have nearly enough time to kill a DF (because of his spread and lack of headshots) even with flawless reaction time, especially since the DF can stand behind a wall while charging. And it’s not really poor positioning when you can fly across the map to his position. Literally anywhere in the game is ā€œpoor positioningā€ at that point. If you’re not willing to change or work with your team to secure a kill, you don’t deserve the kill.

i play on PS4 so coordinating kills is impossible if you don’t have a headset.

Get one…? They can still hear you even if they don’t have one

I never got the impression that Bastion units were cheap or disposable, though. In the Bastion comic, Torbjorn tells the townsfolk that there’s nothing they can do against even just one Bastion unit. He talks him up like he’s the T800. I could be wrong on this, but the Bastion units always stuck me as the pinnacle of military technology - tough, deadly, adaptable, durable. He’s a complicated machine.

That said, I was mostly proposing having different versions of a barrier on different modes. The Barrier I proposed for Sentry is static and tied to Bastion’s position, so it wouldn’t be appropriate for Recon and Tank. More than that, I feel Recon and Tank require different skills more tailored to their ā€œroleā€ than just whatever Sentry also gets.

I’m not married to the idea, obviously. Just brainstorming solutions to the issues my own proposal creates.

Why not just allow him to move at 50% speed in sentry mode?

I also want to see his recon form made a little more reliable. It’s hardly worth using.

Decent quality of life suggestion. Not sure if that would buff him enough to get picked a great deal more but definitely enough to be noticable and appreciated by people who already play bastion. Like myself.

Have you seen The Last Bastion and Honor and Glory? There’s hundreds of them dying left and right. I didn’t mean they were trash, just cheap to make (kinda like Soviet tanks). They’re pretty good at their job, but I wouldn’t go so far as to say pinnacle of military technology…

I guess I’m just still not sold on the idea of a deployable barrier, I’d rather have it as Sentry only, and attached to Bastion like it was in the beta. Maybe slightly bigger if he were to become a tank, so he could protect his team a bit, but still attached to his feet. Maybe it’s always forward facing too, so even if he turns around, it will still be in the same spot…

One of the biggest issues of Bastion is that that he is discouraged to transform for a fluid playstyle because every transformation is a self-inflicted stun in which he cant do anything but just feed free damage to the enemy.

Thats why i think the huge Ironclad percentage is needed for transformation and make it less punishing. It even opens up strategical usage by using it survive some Ultimates.

More armor is there to make him less vulnerable against spread weapons and solidifies snipers as his best counters.

For me the correct way of buffing Bastion is reverting the changes to sentry shots(Spread and crits) while mantaining the Current Ironclad, plus reworking Tank mode.

Maybe even with the current ironclad plus former damage on Sentry would not be enough.

That’s certainly also an option. I do feel that the lack of a second ability sort of dulls his playstyle, though. Like Mercy and D’Va, I’d like to see something put in there.

But yes, giving him a barrier locked to his original facing which recharges only when out of Sentry mode is also not a bad idea. Rather low-footprint solution. I don’t dislike it.

I can see wanting another ability, but I don’t think he really needs it… I think having Ganymede track an enemy might be a neat option if they were to give him one, let Bastion see them through walls, at least for a little bit. Have him act kinda like a discord orb, but without the damage increase. That could go on E.

The best thing I think they could put on E would be a nerfed version of Tank mode, and replace his ultimate with an overclock type ability somewhat similar to Mercy. There’s a few posts floating around with more details on that idea, it may even be in this thread, I’m not sure.
