Characters talking is annoying

Hello,

And here I found MAYBE the thing that makes the game so frustrating. It’s definately not the biggest issue, but I still think it’s one of them. The thing is, you’re not losing to a soldier in a military uniform, not to a serious enemy, but to a cartoony lil Tracer, or damned Torb, or to a Brig, the girl in kinda knight armor with a shield and a censer. Or to a hamster! And after that, even if player’s not t-bagging or smth, this cute cartoon character tells you smth derogatory and annoying. Kinda spits in your direction. Wtf? Counting that it’s more likely was not a 1v1, just some Lucio maybe, who boop-killed the 2hp half dead after the grav Ana. And what about that phrase-spamming 25lvl double pocketed Genji gm in your low diamond? And it’s all in a game, where the victory feels like a coin flip. In a game, where now even in ffa the game tells the second place the loud and hateful DEFEAT.

What I’m suggesting, is we need an option to switch all heroes to “not talking”. You will hear “need healing” or “behind you” type of staff, but no comments from characters, no phrases, no sound of hello, anything.

What do you think about it?

Yea, but I need to hear very clearly need healing, ults and so on, also the game saying 30sec left

I wouldn’t mind an option to turn off voicelines, if only to prevent needing to listen to people spamming lines.

Turn down your volume.

Have you ever played Xenoblade Chronicles 2?

But that’s the point of a blizzard game. It’s going to have playful banter. It’s going to be both cartoony and serious.

Muting a “i’m number 1” D.va or a “Wooo jackpot!” Lucio voice line that some guy keeps spamming every 10 seconds is one thing.

But playful banter? Go to CoD if you want die hard angry people shooting each other. Blizzard’s been playful banter for almost 30 years now. I doubt they’re going to stop.

Squelch chat. It’s their own fault for spamming voice lines anyway.

If you don’t get to hear I need healing… I’d say its a good tradeoff. Most people are just gonna think you’re not listening to them.

Anyone who has a drop of analytical ability in them will soon realize that people are muting him for spamming voice lines.

But just as an option for those who feels this is sometimes undeserved? Espesially if you’re taking it seriously

I thought muting doesn’t work for voice lines?

Adding an option “mute all hero voicelines” in settings would be interesting. Currently you can do it only manually, via blocking the player who is spamming lines after [no idea why the word describing crouching and spraying after killing you is filtered] you.

It’s not a problem for me, but now if you don’t wanna hear lines from characters you have to mute players. See?

And does that work for characters talking themselvs as well?

Squelch chat works for muting voice lines. I can’t say for certain that it mutes character chatter, but I think it does. I can’t remember the last time I heard one.

I don’t mind the characters talking between themselves. But if I hear “Mada, mada” one more time I’ll cut someone.

Thank you, you’ve been very helpful.

But how would you know if they say chivalry was dead?
