I’ve been playing for over a year and haven’t had this problem until about a month ago. My character will move left and right and I can’t do anything about it, and i can’t aim it’ll sit in one spot and no matter how much i move my mouse it won’t move. I have uninstalled the game a few times and it fixed the issue for maybe a few days then it will come back and do the same thing. I love this game and want to keep playing it. Please help!
I have been having the same issue as you. Its like I am fighting against the controls. I try to move left or right to dodge shots and its like the controls wants to force me into the opposite direction. I tested this in the practice range as well and can duplicate this several times just by hitting left and right input keys to strafe. Its quite annoying and I don’t know the cause of it.
Have either of you checked if this is a keystroke ghosting issue?

I never had this problem before until few weeks ago. And today worse…
My character did not just moved on her own but also ran back almost to the loading room…lol…I was fighting against my own controls to try to take back my control but…what i found weird is that each time it happened…One particular character of the other team was ALWAYS showing up near OUR loading room to come kill me…The same person. As an other person mentioned it also on the microphone having the same problem as me, he also had this person coming at him…
I am on xbox one…but now i am wondering if hackers from computers or people with hacked xbox (chip inside their xbox) are playing with us…Blizzard you need to check this up! We aren’t just saying this “moving on its own character”…we experience this!!! Cmon do something!!
I’m having the same issue.
It’s not ghosting of keyboard or anything because I can play other games and type just fine.
Did anyone find a fix? I’m going to try to reinstall overwatch.
same feels like I am holding movings keys when I’m not, changed keyboard same problem
Enabling high precision mouse input will fix this.
Since this keeps getting bumped, I wanted to chime in here…
The behaviors being described by everyone are classic symptoms of packet loss/networking issues.
The delays communicating with the server can cause all of these:
- Feeling like you’re stuck in place or tethered to something in game, despite hitting keys to move.
- Moving farther or in a different direction than expected, or continuing to move after you stop pressing keys.
- Teleporting back to a previous location at random.
While you may not experience these symptoms with other games, it’s important to remember that all games are not hosted in the same physical location. This means you’ll be using different internet routes (“highways”) to reach them in different cities or states. If the problem is with the route, it may be up to your ISP to make repairs in order to fix this.
If you’re currently experiencing this issue, please start a new thread in #technical-support and include a WinMTR.

It def is NOT your keyboard… same thing happened to me and i swapped out the board immediately… still it happens. Nicole here has a great explanation on what i personally think it actually is. Gl in fixing this everyone. Especially those who play ranked
i’m having this issue on console. I know it’s not my controller because it’s working well with other games. And if it is a network issue, and not all the games share the same internet routes, how do i fix it then?
PC users can lean on a VPN to change their ISP route to the server, but unless your router has VPN support, there isn’t a quick fix on console. Unfortunately, you have to work with the ISP on this.
