Change text/voice language on Steam

Hello there, today I started preloading Overwatch 2 on Steam. I usually use English text and German voice output in the Battle.Net Launcher - but in Steam I can only change the general language. Is there a way to change this?

Best regards,
Gabriel

Hopefully this helps help steampowered com/en/faqs/view/4984-C127-121D-B3F2

Search on google “Steam and Games - Language Settings”.

Same question.
I think the solution might be similar to what is mentioned in this page:

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2277772829

, but I cannot find any “audio” folder inside the Overwatch directory. :slightly_frowning_face:

“Steam\steamapps\common\Overwatch\data”

Here.

The audio file is the only one created when you change language.

data.007.001 is French, data.013.001 is Japanese etc…

Thank you, Keikoku! It works!

What command are you using on Launch Options ?
I tried +miles_language but it didn’t work.
I want to set English voice with Zh_tw UI/HUD
so it should be +miles_language data.001.001, right?

So to go into more detail on what Keikoku said. First you want to change the language on steam which should be data .007 .001 etc etc. The time stamp of the data file is one you wan to copy and paste it to your desktop

Afterwards you can change the game language to english or which one you prefer such as text. Then update the game, afterwards paste that same voice file into the data section and delete the new one that got put in there

Another quick add-up here. The file name data.0XX.001 The XX is the number from up to down on the language option, starting at 01 for English and going down to 13 for Japanese. You can find your target language using this correspondence.

So you just replace the language file instead of changing launch options?

EDIT: I got it to work too now.

  1. I just downloaded the german version on Steam (data.008.001)
  2. Renamed it to data.008.001_
  3. Downloaded the english version on Steam (data.001.001)
  4. Renamed english version to data.001.001_
  5. Renamed german version to data.008.001

Now I have german audio & english text. Thanks a lot!
My folder now looks like this:

.build.config
data.000.000
data.000.001
data.001.001_
data.008.001
data.020.001
data.021.001
data.022.001
data.023.001
data.024.001
data.030.001
data.031.001
data.032.001

In Launch Options in Steam, language is for Audio, and Launch Option is for text, parameter is tank_Locale (language) , for example tank_Locale enUS

This is an even better solution! Thanks a lot! Now the only thing that is missing, is a list of all possible Locales.

Nice! Glad you was able to get it figured out. I wasn’t sure if I was explaining it good enough lol

This was found in another page for Diablo II support but there are some possible Locales

enUS = English (American)
koKR = Korean
zhCN = Chinese
frFR = French
deDE = German
esES = Spanish (Spain)
jaJP = Japanese
esMX = Spanish (Latin America)
itIT = Italian
plPL = Polish
ptBR = Portugese (Brazil)
ruRU = Russian
