DPS need something other than just do damage because everyone can do that.
Tank- make space, do damage
Support- Heal, enable, do damage
DPS- Just damage
Supports/tank do so much damage now because everyone knows shooting things is the most fun and they wanted to migrate DPS players to those roles but DPS need more purpose to keep up with the other roles now.
I play support and tank and don’t want to give up my killing power because yes, shooting things in an FPS is fun. That’s why DPS has always been the most popular role.
DPS don’t just do damage, they do more damage.
Some do burst damage and can oneshot you,
others just simply DPS more harder and could even kill a healed enemy.
Blizzard balancing is bad, very bad, but thank God forums do not have any influence whatsoever on the balance and changes. The takes I read on here.

In multi-role team based games, the damage based characters are always the least interesting, imo. Probably cuz shooting has been done in every fps game… ever.
Its not OW’s fault that shooting is boring and doing more than just shooting isn’t 
maybe its not that DPS need more, but that the other roles need less. Supports for instance need less damage
Tanks as well
I have fun being able to kill things.
The big issue is that support and tank has bad player feedback outside of killing the enemy.

Disagree. The thought of supporting or protecting strangers makes me physically want to shrivel up.
The job of a DPS isn’t do “do damage”, but to secure kills. Supports may do similar damage numbers at times but that doesn’t means they’re doing as much as a DPS hero in terms of securing picks, because they’re designed more to pressure rather than to kill. The roles have different kits for different purposes.
I might do somewhat comparable damage as an Ana to another DPS hero on my team but that doesn’t mean my damage has provided the same value as that DPS. People seriously need to start applying some context to the scoreboard numbers they see. It’s getting frustratingly stupid.
Thats a personal taste thing.
Its funny cuz protecting strangers makes you physically ill, but shooting/eliminating them is the bees knees right? Thats mildly ironic imo.
