This would solve a lot of problems in the lower tiers with smurfs. This would be a simple solution and it would improve the quality of matches for a lot of players.

I agree & was saying this just the other day. If a user is toxic/abusive enough that I want to avoid them as a teammate, you bet I don’t want them on the other team either.

It’s not pre-season one and there are a ton more players now. You have no idea what kind of terror smurfs bring to Platinum and lower. This would prevent players from having to play against them and it’s only three players.
I get the desire to remove smurfs. I do. But…
That means 1 avoid would take them out of playing with potentially 11 not 5 people. You would gum up the matchmaker. At the extremes you might halt matchmaking altogether. Also people could use it to avoid someone beating them or countering them hard which is not the purpose. The purpose is someone you had no fun with that ruined your experience not being matched with you.
OP: how could you speak for any rank besides low-mid bronze about smurfs?
So i can avoid the skilled widow player and climb for free without worrying about learning from my mistakes? yes please!!!

As poly probably knows we used to have the “avoid totally” feature and people abused it exactly as Poly said, thats why it was removed and wont be re-added.
From what I remembered, it took many, many seasons to add the feature back and modified the way it was really supposed to be, to avoid players as teammates due to sheer bad experience. It was supposed to be used back then to avoid players who just ruin the experience, even if you didn’t like them as opponents… it was later on abused to avoid good players.
Then they need to do something about smurfs, other than have sales right before every new season so they buy new accounts. How about ruining the experience of my last eight games??? Of them three had smurfs, two admitted derankers. This is not fun and you CANNOT climb because of it. And unless fewer players play now than back then, and they don’t, then the only reason I can think of not allowing you to do it, is because it would prevent smurfs from being avoided.
This all being said, i wouldnt mind an extra 3 slots for “full avoid” that only worked in quickplay/arcade
it’d make the casual modes a bit more fun if i could shoo out every widow/doom/tracer
I think something needs to happen I’ve had my last 4 games thrown because some guy just feels like de ranking people and yeah i can avoid him but that means i have to remove another person I’ve avoided for throwing meaning next games i can get matched up with them too this season alone I’ve met at least 12 different people who are on smurfs throwing and its impossible to avoid them we even managed to get both the enemy team and my own to report them then low and behold the next day they end up in my game throwing so as far as i can see the people that throw have more control over how my ranking goes more than blizzard or i myself do so they need to do something weather it be this or something else but just 3 days in and ive already lost all hope of getting to plat this season
You can pretty much update your three avoid slots every game (with the worst three players on either team).
If your in the middle ranks 2000-3000 SR you almost never see a previous avoid again - those few times it does happen are a small price to pay for avoid the 3 worst clowns in your last game.
This isn’t to avoid smurfs on your team, but on the other team. This one addition would fix the smurf problem. You would see a drastic reduction in the number of people simply purchasing accounts to troll bronze and silver.
But what about legitimately good players? What happens if you come across players that’re legitimately trying to go pro, has the mechanical skill, game sense, and attitude to do so, gets victimized by this?
I’m very egalitarian in which the ones who perform the most efficient, most effective, most legitimate, and the most consistent should go up. If external factors impede them, such as the “avoid player system” even works against their favors, then what we’re doing is spoiling even a mere competitive system.
There’s a difference between a very good player that raises up in the ranks and one that’s still at the same rank two weeks later. The difference is one intentionally ranked Bronze to climb out and say he did it, while the other ranked there so he could smurf at that rank for the season. Both should be banned, but one is significantly worse than the other. My belief is avoid player on both teams would prevent this from being an issue. I find many smurfs are grouped with another player or only play sparingly, so being able to avoid them after that first game, until you need to avoid someone else helps prevent these people from showing up in your games.
I could see this being very easily exploited, but okay.
Complete avoid would be so appreciated , i hate trolls and smurfs in this game its actually the most toxic game ive ever played, ( no i didnt play CS or LOL )

read the forums once in a while! the game is dying and losing players every day!
at this point the game is so dead it should be called Zombiewatch
