So I know quite a long time ago someone at Blizzard I think Jeff said that players do not like abilities that take away control from the player. Because it doesn’t feel good to play against. They said the same thing about one shot deaths.
So why is it we are currently sitting in the CC apocalypse. Why has every new character besides Moira that has been added to the game have some sort of ability that takes away player control to various degrees. Ana puts you to sleep with sleep darts, Sombra hacks you and takes away your abilities, Orisa sucks you in and prevents you from moving normally. Doomfist knocks you all over the place. And Brigitte has the most overpowered stun in the game.
It’s no surprise that CC would run rampant if you keep adding more and more to the list. I had one game playing as Reinhardt where I started to walk forward through a choke, Brigitte shield bashed me from the side, Mei froze me while I was still stunned, and Roadhog hooked me and I was deleted instantly. Regardless of if it was a bad idea to try and advance or not. Not being able to move and being knocked about all match is some of the most unfun experiences I’ve had with the game to date.
But at this point…what can you even do to fix the game now that just about every step you take could be met with you being stunned and deleted, or you know stunned multiple times and then deleted.
Would a new hero be able to fix this? Reworking heroes? Nerfing heroes? It almost feels like there is no real way to fix this. But I’ll hold out, hopefully in a season or two they will be able to find a way to balance all of this. But I’d also love a reply from Blizzard on how they feel the game is turning out currently. I’ve loved the game for 9 seasons of Overwatch…only now do I just feel like it’s lost it’s way.
