Cassidy is actually insane this season

All it took was big bullets and more HP. I just finished a game at 45-7 pissed out 22k damage in 3 rounds on Lijiang Tower. Hes probably the best close to mid range dps in the game right now, weak against ranged pressure but doesn’t matter. Being able to immobilise a Doomfist, Ball or a Monkey gets immense value. Tracer and Genji feel like even matchups especially with the global changes, overall he actually has an identity and role this season.

Magnetic grenade is just flat out bad design though, both to use and play against. For starters, it does a measly 80 damage, is not good super consistent against dive dps, and is on a hefty cooldown. On the other end, 75% of heroes are mildly inconvenienced by it, but seeing it fly towards you after you used an ability to escape feels really bad, Rework this ability to ANYTHING else. A skillshot that does more damage but no CC. Flashbang but it hinders instead of stuns. ANYTHIng that makes it more engaging and fun to use, but also predictable to play against. P.S i think hinder existing is not a bad thing, its just the implementation. Hinder existing is good and there is an answer to Tracers, Genjis, Doom, Ball, Sombra, etc.

So if you want a safe pick with no strong counters that has a satisfying weapon to use, definitely give him a go again this sesaon

Hard counters do not exist in this game.

Lots of heroes have bad matchups. Some very bad. If youre good enough and play smart, doesn’t matter. In the long run, you’ll win if you’re better.

You can do much better with any other character if they don’t focus you the same, which is the only reason you did good in that game on lijang :wink: Cass will never be good in this game. Once you notice his positioning, you look at him, and he explodes w/o a pocket. His model hitbox is big enough to consume every shot and his hp pool do not compensate for this, his lack of mobility, and actual utility to protect himself, not even talking about his offensive potential that do no exist. Taking hg is impossible with him - a waste of time, and you won’t last long enough on the hg to provide any value. Playing by main is his case, and that is not a play making positioning, but he is forced to it. Taking any off-angles is punishable and more beneficial for the enemy team to have you isolated. He fits no meta. Back in ow1 he was playable because of his stun, and tanks, now he has to tank more than he can take on his own. The dps value in ow2 is being supportive at providing space for the tank, cass has no such capability. Cass is very resource demanding to provide value, and the META in ow2 is to be independent, a generalist.

i love cassidy so much, his gameplay feels great. but magnetic grenade feels so clunky on both sides, it being on a 12 second cooldown feels like absolute garbage and most of the time i cant even use it when i need to. i really wish they just reworked his E into something else, no idea what, but at least something. also deadeye sucks so bad its actually insane, the only way to get value with it is if you go on like an off angle.

also id fr gladly remove 25 of his health if it means he can get 5 more meters on his fall off, 10 proved to be too strong even with 200 health, so i think 250 health with the max fall off being 40 instead of 35 or 45 would feel absolutely AMAZING. i really think he just needs a few touch ups to feel very fluid without being overtuned

i don’t think he needs this change but everyone else also has 250hp now though it wouldn’t be as strong at 45m max. i remember wanted did a comparison in season 3 and it was 3 headshots at 40m for a kill after the buff on a 200hp hero, and 4 shots for mei and reaper. now everyone has mei and reaper health so it would be 4 headshots to kill a 200hp target at long range.

your right, its more so just a quality of life change as it assists him in securing more damage at range while making his health the same as every other squishy

if im being honest, i really hate the fact that theres squishies with 25 extra health than everybody else. lifeweaver doesn’t need it, nor does cass, but they only need it because the devs refuse to help them in areas that need changing so they just take the easy way out. at least thats how i see it.
