I’ve noticed since season 9, and particularly the armor changes a couple weeks ago, that Cassidy feels very powerful. I almost exclusively play tank, because I’m one of the suckers who queue all roles. On a hunch, I tried Cassidy a couple times that I’ve gotten DPS, even though I haven’t played him since OW1. I usually play tracer or soldier when I get the rare dps queue. I went 25-2 and 31-3. His FTH is obnoxious against tanks, and his headshots are super easy to hit now.
Yet overbuff doesn’t show him as being too strong. What’s the consensus?
They do when they’re flexible and fun. Not saying anything about whether McCancelled is currently balanced or not, I just hate the representation argument because it doesn’t survive objective scrutiny on its own. You need more than “It sees a lot of play” to conclude imbalance. There’s also the argument of “Maybe McCaddyshack is where dps should be” that someone can make.
He’s terrible in a poke meta where engagements are usually at longer ranges than 25m. At ranges below 20m he can be really strong. Yes, it’s too easy for him to hit headshots now, enabling him to 2-tap most of the dps and support roster. And he does even more damage than before to anyone with armor.
The vast majority of people in GM and top 500 don’t play heroes because they’re fun, they play them because they’re strong. Strong heroes win games, winning games lets you climb.
