So I just had CAPTCHA pop up when trying to login. It was the most illegible writing I’ve ever seen in my life. It would have taken a team of scientists to decipher what the hell that thing said. My only question is, what the hell do you need CAPTCHA on a video game for? I just want to play a game not to decipher hieroglyphics. I didn’t hop on Overwatch 2 to solve Pharah’s riddles. If y’all could stop this foolishness immediately that would be great.

It´s not a secret that bots are playing in this game. It´s also something, that is happening to many games. (WOW is a paradise for bots)
Years ago I was dating an IT guy, who created bots, that were farming games for him, while he was at work.
I can only imagin this is much bigger problem today, than years ago.

They already have captcha in the battle.net launcher that’s entirely different to the outdated scribble writing captcha they have embedded into the game.
Ideally they should be passing the completed captcha digest to the game just like they do with logins (hence you automatically login instead of typing out username and password unless you launch the game directly)
There are definitely bots, but to have a captcha embedded into the game itself is stupid.
Some reasons for captcha include your IP making too many login requests or having a bad reputation (think VPNs), or logging in for the first time, launching the game directly

Captchas have existed for long enough, it’s just plain silly to want them removed, they do their job well enough.
ive never had that but its possible someone has tried to break into your account

they most assuredly do. i run a youth group and we had kids working on an OW bot for hanzo as a STEM learning project. the bot was wild and missed every shot, but the crossplay rigging always picked up the slack after 2-3 losses the wins were forced, so no one noticed. thanks crossplay + hidden mmr rigging for letting my little learners script themselves rampant.
You should be well aware by now all the other Slim Shady’s are just imitatin’
