If the goal of Role Queue was to make better matches…
It’s failed.
These games are FAR worse than any in the first 17 seasons.
Sure, you could end up with a 4 dps comp. Know what? I’ll take it over playing with 2 tanks who refuse to even touch the point, which means you basically sit there helplessly with very little shot to even PLAY the game.
it’s FAR too team dependent, which might be fine for OWL but not here on the ladder.
Role queue makes it so those two players dictate the match. And most likely, they’re only playing the tank role to avoid queue times.
I’d much rather just have every single player on the hero they like best. I don’t care if that means 4 dps. Every person in the match playing something they’re actually good at is better than this mess right now.
Role Queue has only made the games infinitely more frustrating. Even worse because you sat for 8 minutes just to play that game.
It’s a total failure, if you ask me. The game was better, and more popular, before.
I hope they revert it. Revert hero bans. Let the players play Overwatch how THEY want to. If that means 1-3-2, or 1-4-1, then fine. That’s what Overwatch is, according to the players.
What Overwatch wasn’t supposed to be was… limit everything, make a game feel so oppressive and hopeless that you don’t even care about it any more. That’s what i see around me. No one cares.
The devs took the playground away, and forced everyone to play in a tiny little box.
It has not, at least so far as my game experience is concerned.
Role Queue saved the game for me.
I was a Damage main who switched to Tanks and Supports because no one else would, and I had gotten quickly fed up with solo tanking/healing 3+ Damage team compositions that just did not work.
If it wasn’t for Role Queue I would’ve quit the game and I’ve been here since launch.
Role Queue saw a significant increase in match quality for me.
However, the introduction of hero bans has seen that quality take a sharp decrease as players end up playing heroes they’re not good with/never played before, or they opt to just not play at all for a week (or more) which increases queue times and hurts the game’s longevity.
Not according to this player, it isn’t.
Those modes are not fine at all. They are too much like the pre-Role Queue Overwatch which had descended into madness.
I must like madness then. It was a blast. You could get creative, and do just about anything you wanted. Now, it’s like being forced to sit and watch your team refuse to counter anything, and YOU can’t do much about it. It was better before for me, because i’d often switch roles to help the team. I found that a lot more fun.
Let’s be real here:
All that “playing what the team needed” meant, was locking in a (Main) Tank and staying on it for the rest of the game in the overwhelming number of cases.
Role Q finally allowed players who actually cared about team comp to get out of the “Tank Jail”.
Role q is the best thing to happen to the game. I didn’t play outside of a six stack when it didn’t exist and I wouldnt play the game if it ever went back. The game wasn’t even a competitive game. It was a joke. A game for fun with a ranked mode that meant nothing.
I also appreciate your opinion you don’t find it fun but I find competitive fun that is actually competitive. It’s why I play siege. I found a great ruled rank system fun.
If you want to have fun. Quick play classic and arcade have very fun modes. I know that’s not what you want to hear but the way ranked is now is much better competitively structured.
Thank you for your opinion that is one of many. Ranked right now is unbearable at least from a support perspective. Sometimes you can just wait for the game to end. You can heal, kill and even sing for entertainment and still lose because without tanks and dps the game is over before it even started. This is the state of the game right now.
I personally dont see any combination of roles as lacking in structure, even 6 support if you will; nor do i see 222 as the best “structure”.
222 is just one option in a game that previously provided a lot more options than it does now, and a player can compete using any role on a team with any combination of roles
I agree completely and especially since I play support you see teammates rune dps even though they MAIN tank or support which is really infuriating because if your a support and not with friends your going to lose 75% of the time
And i’m not even sure 222 was always the best option. I mean, Goats was extremely popular. So, according to pros, 222 was NOT the best option. And i’m sure by now players would have discovered a ton of variety and other viable comps, but… they can’t. Not allowed to. Forced 222 has taken pretty much ALL the creativity out of the game.
Yes but the fan base killed that. They couldn’t be trusted and it showed. Every game was a gamble is my team throwing by picking an absolutely atrocious comp and alot of wins were simply handed to you because the enemy picked four or five dps and argued nonstop until the game ended.
add role Q
dont balance the game for MONTHS
wonder why all the players have gone
handicap based matchmaking with a low player population = [insert deadly disease]
