Sometimes I choose to login through the .exe for speed or to use an alt account but it just gets stuck at ‘connecting’ now. This only started recently (as of the past couple days).
Pls help.
Found the issue, and it was a bit strange. Needed (for some reason) to download pre-release content from the b.net launcher, but of course it wouldn’t start unless left idle for a while.
Don’t think I’ve had this specific issue before but I guess I won’t delete this topic in case it helps anyone in future.
This sounds very odd. I’ve had to manually login through typing credentials into the Overwatch main executable for a while now, because for some reason the launcher isn’t able to pass my logins over to it. But I haven’t really had this issue (been logging on daily just yesterday).
Then again, when I leave the Battle.net running and am not running any games, it’s constantly checking in the background for updates to the game. Every single time I exit Overwatch, it will spend 20 seconds checking for updates and the “game is updating” window will show up, preventing me from exiting Battle.net right away. Also at a frequency of what feels like every 10~20 mins, if I open the Battle.net main interface, it’ll be trying to check for updates. Gets a bit annoying with how much time it wastes So I tried to reduce the behavior by turning off downloading for prelaunch content, and it’s still happening anyway.
Have you noticed any similar behavior on your end? Either way, I don’t have prelaunch content downloading turned on, and am manually entering my logins in the Overwatch.exe and have not experienced your issues. There’s a high chance it’s something else like simply a server or network issue that was just temporarily preventing successful login.
Also there’s a tech support forum. Next time for individual issues like this, seek help over there first. The bug reports forum is meant for reporting bugs and will not provide any direct help to resolve your issue.
I’ve only ever had an issue logging in if there was a full new patch released, never a pre-release before. It was strange but I guess it changed. Or it might’ve been some odd slight moment where they pushed an update but it wouldn’t ever load because I was running the .exe, which then wouldn’t log in.
I don’t think it’s that because my main account could login from b.net just fine, just the alt account with the .exe was an issue. Perhaps my main might not’ve been able to login from the .exe but I didn’t think to try it. Any time something like this happens I’m afraid I got banned, or something.
Either way, it’s ok at the moment for me!
