Can't find any way to counter pharah as support

When i play support i have 3 nightmares.

  1. Flyers. By far. Pharah MOSTLY and a little bit of Echo
  2. Widowmaker
  3. Flank dps (mostly Genji)

With 3), i pick Moira or Brig. I can’t find another support to actually do many stuff against flankers
2) i can’t find any solution, ppl say kiriko
But with 1. I just CAN’T. Due to dyspraxia my aim is really mediocre. So bap ana and Illari aren’t really a choice. What can i do against a pharah as support ?

If you are unable to play Ana, Bap or Illari, there’s not much you can do besides pick Mercy, pocket your dps and hope they can aim.
Juno is an option as well

You need to be a very good dps Lucio

You should try to always be dynamic with your positioning to make it hard for flankers to reach you. Or pick Zenyatta and flank the flankers so you don’t get flanked

I’ve found luck with Juno, her torpedo does enough to scare Pharah to back off but it’s definitely not a solution

Widowmaker is a problem for everybody. Support ain’t the only victim there.

Fliers you can go Zen to discord them to make them stay away or die. You can go mobility with Lucio, Mercy, Kiriko, or Juno to make yourself hard to hit.

Or you can chip them out with occasional safe quick scope poke with Ana.

You have a lot of Support options. Just understand or learn the strength/weaknesses of each hero kit.

Moira can fade from Echo so she doesn’t really have to worry about her. But Pharah is a strong counter and you should swap unless you have strong DPS.

Flankers it depends on the Support. Play more deatmatch with them and you will get better at dueling against all heroes.

And Baptist is good at handling most of the heroes giving you trouble. Start learning him too because his skills translate over to other Support roles.

Juno & Baps is kinda good with Pharah only if she is alone. If she has her pet “Mercy” with her then your team have to help. If not you can consider the match over.

Bap weapon feels sooo hard to hit with. My accuracy with him is like 20-25%. I feel more confident when i heal a lot and tank bust a bit with him than trying to hit the backline/ flyers, missing, getting frustrated and then also at that time , my team gets less heals

Moira is effective vs phara. Only con is you must be mid range and up. To reach.

I would say Moira.

Get out of the way and attack the backsline. Because if they play pharah, the chance is less that the backline gets peel

  1. Bap, Juno. In a lesser way, Zen and LW (against pharah aim for feet/belly, as they slowly descend, the projectile will have more chance to headshot them). But if the flyer gets a pocket Mercy, you’re doomed, escaping and regrouping is the only solution.

  2. Lifeweaver. If you know where Widow is, just shoot there. Don’t be afraid to preshoot or just spam blindly her spot. If she sidesteps, she would taste 140dps continuous fired thorns so it’d be very risky for her. LW also has no fall-off on his damage. With some experience, you’ll also start to aim for head and get critical damage. In other words, you’re either locking down the Widow or killing her.
And as the thorns have some spreadth, it is more forigvable and easier to use than Kiriko kunai.
He’s very good against Ashe too and long range sprayer like some Soldier76/ Sojourn players. Against Hanzo, its more risky as he’s mobile and can still headshot you, even if he’s taking fire.

  3. -Genji : Moira everyday. Cast healing orb on yourself then right click on Genji, it is done.

  • Tracer, I feel LifeWeaver is a good option if you can spam thorns where the Tracer gonna warp/dash.
  • Sombra : Moira healing orb on the hacked target. She can also usually dash and cleanse hack from herself. Same for Kiriko. Brig is a good choice because of her shield but taking down Sombra can be tough.
  • Venture : I think Brig is my fav as Venture is predictable so you can be sure to push her away with flail in the worst cases.

Thank you so much! The lifeweaver seems like a nice choice

I play Pharah and Ana, and I think Ana is one of the best supports against Pharah, besides Bap.

For 1), Ana, Bap or Illari work, if they don’t have Mercy, you could try Moira :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

About 2), I find Moira the best because I throw the orb… That’s it, Widowmaker puts too much pressure on supports :sob:

And 3), Moira and Brig, yes, although Illari and Bap could also work if you’re good enough.

Vaxta Code to train your aim is also an option, do it everyday for like 15 min and you should see progress in a couple of weeks.

Speaking as a bap who loves picking off pharahs I don’t think there’s anyone better in the support roster for this.

It’s a three bullet burst so I like to lead it a little bit. That way at least one of your shots will probably hit something. Also honestly you can probably get away with using your exo boots to close the distance between you and pharah in the sky. Makes her a bigger target and it might even scare her if she’s not used to it.

Really it’s just practice but flick aim is key for Bap. Personally my aim focus is usually on landing DPS shos and flick shooting nades around allies. It may not be easy at first but that should be good enough, in time.

I use Vaxta a lot but due to dyspraxia my aim gets worse than better :joy:

Sending you a thumbs up OP for creating this thread asking for help from the community to improve.

ana. it’s ana.
no falloff on your primary fire. just shoot her.

you just want to punish her for spamming from the skybox long enough that your team kills her team before she kills yours.

Mercy is passable with option 1/2.
The idea with Widowmaker is that you avoid being an easy to hit target by giving value to others and not being within line of sight yourself to Widowmaker. You give your ranged units the damage boost to fight back and can revive Widow’s occasion long range kills nullifying her value.

Mercy’s high flight time makes being tracked by Pharah very difficult because she has such a slow projectile and relies heavily upon splash damage to make up for missed direct rockets. Occasionally, you can fly into a Pharah’s face to kill them during Valkyrie.

Brigitte is ironically not a terrible choice for widowmaker either to deal with 2/3 combined. Given Brig’s shield and widow’s generally lower spam damage, you can often get away with repair packs on most things and simply remove yourself as an easy target due to shield and rally. Widow always has to respect Brig if ever she gets into close range.

Kiriko is suitable for 2/3 as well since you can challenge Widowmaker long range while at the same time having TP/Suzu for emergency bailouts against a diver.

Juno is honestly better against Pharah/Echo than Ana/Bap/Illari overall as an average. If you can’t usually aim well, then you can the slower nature of Ana/Bap/Illari is heavily abusable as Pharah. Pharah kills hitscan in close up fight by dive bombing them. All of these characters have shiite mobility to avoid being dove. Juno has MULTIPLE ways to stay on the move. While at the same time having a flexible multishot gun giving chip damage and pulsar torpedo. Good luck having PHarah trying to land direct rockets when you are hovering in the air at 50% mov spd and double jumping everywhere almost never landing on the ground.

With the headshot perk on Juno, you can also amp your damage now against her as well.

As mentioned Ana, Bap and Juno do fairly well against flyers. Ana has the range, Bap the damage and survivability, and Juno the mobility plus Missiles.

u dont need to actually aim with ana, just a body shot gets full value
