Can't find a perfect sensitivity

As the title says, I’m really struggling with this as an issue. I’ve been trying to perfect my aim and looking different at sensitivities but no matter what I try I can’t find the equilibrium. I’m a Genji main so I wanna prioritize finding an ideal sens for him, so I’ve been jumping between 5200 edpi and 6000 but it feels weird. 6000 is good for hitting 180s without wrist pain but it doesn’t feel as accurate. 5200 makes all my other characters better but I seriously cannot play Genji on it. I don’t see how players like eQo or Agilities can play him on a lower edpi. I really don’t know what the solution to this is either, I am so deathly afraid of ruining my aim that I don’t wanna use 2 different sensitivities so I don’t know what to do about it. Apologies in advance if this sounds stupid but it’s actually been causing some anxieties in game. Any help would be greatly appreciated because I’ve been testing this for a few days now and still haven’t found a solution.

There is a very easy way to find perfect sensitivity.

Set a speed that you think you are comfortable with it.
if it is too fast - half the current value and try again
if it is too slow - double the current value and try again
repeat several times and the range will get smaller the more times you repeat.

There is a “formula”. General rule of thumb is can you turn 180 with one clean motion of mouse and still aim comfortably?

Mousepad size/desktop space allows for slower dpi/sensitivity due to more surface area, but if you have limited space you tend to have a higher sensitivity otherwise you can’t maneuver your character very well.

Some people enjoy playing like a slow turning truck, and have to slap the mouse against the desk a few times just to turn 90 degrees, but I’m somewhere in the middle.

Also people might go on about “arm aim/wrist aim” and all sorts of made up “grip names” but yah figure out how you hold it and move it and how to maximize stability while still being able to react to targets not in front of you, or moving fast.

What I did recently was:

Pick a sensitivity (doesn’t matter much)
Play a workshop game you on genji versus 6 lucios or something or try to find an Aim Trainer with small fast targets that run around you.
Record roughly 5 to 10 minutes
Watch your replay and check if you are over or underaiming.
If you are underaiming a lot (you shoot before your crosshair reaches its destination) increase your sensitivity.
If you are overaiming (you have passed your target before you shot) lower it.
Repeat the steps until you feel like you have found your sweet spot.

And now the most important One:

Use that sensitivity in game a lot.

And I mean a lot. Not 2 or 3 days. Use it for months to actually build up your muscle memory.

You can still record your games every now and then to check if you are overaiming underaiming a lot just make sure to use an actual recording program and not Overwatches Replay system because that one is kinda unreliable.

Are you using a small mousepad and only aiming with your wrist? You may want to try arm aiming.

Get a faster mousepad and swap out your mouse feet if you want to play at a lower dpi without sacrificing a lot of speed. Your dpi is high af btw

Isn’t the average EDPI like 5000?

Not really, QCK+ so it’s pretty average, I’m gonna be moving to a logitech powerplay soon so I’ll see if that helps since it’s a little bigger. I tried arm aiming back in CS for a while but I don’t really like the feeling at all.

Dunno the average dpi for everyone. Tank players use those higher values. A lot of dps average around 1k - 3.5k chipsa seagull myself :stuck_out_tongue:

try to move onto arm aiming. set your sens low and just use your forearm to move your mouse instead of your wrist. it will take time to get used to it and you might feel tired. if you however want to keep wrist aiming then just set a medium between both the senses and just stick to it. there is no perfect sens you just need to get used to one and stop thinking about it.

As a guy who plays loads of tracer and genji, my edpi is 4800 (6 sens, 800dpi). You also have to take into account how much space you have for you mouse. I have a pretty large mouse pad (About 35x40cm ish), so I’ve got a lot of room to work with. I actually used to have my sens on 4.5 800dpi, making for 3600edpi, but I still have enough space to do my 180s.

Generally, a lower sens makes you more accurate. But, it’s always down to personal preference. Although, I do feel like your 6000edpi is far too high. I mostly wrist aim, and my 4800edpi is pretty comfortable for me and my very quick aiming style.

But then again, players like Sinaatra had mad high sens on heroes like genji, as does necros, so it’s not to say a super high sens will make you bad, but there definitely is a limit to how high you should go. You don’t want to be barely moving your wrist at all for example.

I pretty much just kept lowering my sens until I found one that was comfortable, and if I felt like it was too low, I raised it again.

Yeah finding a sens for genji is rough cause you wanna hit your shurikens and have good blades. I play on Agilities old sens 800 and 6, my blades are trash tho. Mostly play hitscan at 800 and 4.5
