Cannot get into the game; Update won't install

I should start by saying that this is NOT the anniversary update I’m talking about; I’ve been playing the game since the anniversary event started for a few days with no problems.

This evening after a play session though, I noticed a small update needed to go through. I didn’t think much of it, since this happens often, until I noticed this update never made any progress on its install. Any time I try to install this update, it stays at the initializing stage for a few minutes, and eventually just gives me the BLZBNTAGT00000BB8 (Whoops, something broke) error.

I figured I might be able to get around installing this update by uninstalling the game itself and then reinstalling, but that too perpetually occurs and never makes any progress. I’ve let it sit for a good amount of time and it just says “removing files, please wait” endlessly. No errors on this one, though. Just never makes progress towards uninstalling. I know this isn’t how it should be because I’ve uninstalled the game a handful of times in the past to fix other issues and it always only took a few seconds.

My last idea, after having both attempting to install the update AND attempting to uninstall the game fail to work, was to run a repair on the game through the desktop app. But again, this refuses to go through. The scan starts, runs for a minute or two, and then hits me with the aforementioned BLZBNTAGT00000BB8 error.

So, I’m not sure what to do here. Again, I’ve had no issues playing the game since the anniversary started and now all of a sudden I’m completely locked out because this little update refuses to install and my other methods did not fix the issue. I did uninstall and reinstall the battle.net app just for the heck of it, but this did not solve the problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
