Can Zarya counter Zarya?

The few times I have see her she’s always on the other team and my tank refuses to use her. I don’t think any of the tanks directly counter her so I assume using her is the best option.

None of the characters counter themselves. They all just “mirror”.

Ehh… In my experience, especially because of her low mobility and the fact that the laser can only hit one person at a time, Reinhardt works pretty well against her. Big hitbox, big barrier, big HP, higher mobility, overall very good deterrent.

It can be tricky if they have energy already and you don’t. Good zaryas just ignore you as a tank with bubble.

Nah, rein is my go-to tank to counter Zarya.
Shield when she has bubble, smack her in the face when she doesnt. simple.

you counter zarya by baiting bubbles and then not shooting them, or only popping them if the target is not receiving further peel. Out ranging her is best. She always wins in her effective range, that’s kind of her whole thing. Abuse highgrounds and rotations against her. Crossfire is really good as well. Outrange her

You can fly past her as most tanks or play out of beam range. The only tanks zarya really counters are orisa and maybe JQ? because they have to play in her effective range.

If you are miffed about your tank not being a frontline vs their zarya and letting you brawl past her, maybe consider that that is literally what the enemy zarya WANTS you to do, and you should get past her instead. By using flank routes and high mobility

you dont always need to run it down mid, following the red line that takes you to the payload, and try to brute force your way through the character who wants you to try to do exactly that and loses if you just go around, take angles, set up crossfire, and control high ground instead

I’ve an embarrassing amount of hours on Zarya, and if I’m playing Zarya and go up against an enemy Zar… i typically just ‘play around them’ until at least one of the enemy healers die, while keeping an eye out for people I can bubble if the enemy zar tries to focus them.

With the way Zarya can double bubble herself in OW2, two Zaryas in a 1v1 one can last a ridiculous amount of time, time where your abilities might be better utilized elsewhere on the battle field. If I am going in the for the kill on an enemy Zarya, I try to force them to use bubbles so I can have one in reserve to help me edge out the fight.

Those are just my 2 cents though as a QP warrior who never plays comp. I’m sure in comp the protocol is much different.

Technically yes. And I say that because, in a mirror match, it’s less to do with the hero, and moreso the players knowledge of said hero vs their opponent’s knowledge.

Zarya only counters Zarya it you can out-Zarya their Zarya.

You know?

Zarya gets countered by rein, she just cant dish out enough damage to deal with rein and his shield even at 100%. Zar also has like what 500hp? Shes very easy to melt the second she uses up her shields so if a rein pins her, shes most likely gonna die.

Not a ‘counter’ per say, as Ninetales mentioned it’s just a Mirror.
But yes you can just out-play someone as the same hero, as a ‘counter’ in a way, if you’re really good at the hero. If you want an actually counter you’ll need to swap.

In a mirrior match-up, you have the same tools.
So, it makes sense that in a mirrior match-up the better player wins
[ or whoever has the better comp to bring out the mirrors better wombo(s) ]

Winston is a good counter

D.Va as well… Kinda. In the neutral game she’s a counter. Zarya can also ignore her ulti with bubble if she wants, buuuut D.Va can eat her right clicks and ulti.
