I always thought it looked odd. But I can finally put it into words thanks to you. “Dancing Spaghetti Beam”. God, isn’t that the truth… WHY was it changed in the first place? V: The new Damage Boost beam is cool, but the old Healing beam was so much better…

What did the old beam look like?
Tbh, I hardly noticed the difference. Plus, I don’t exactly spend a ton of time looking at the beam when I’m focused on what’s happening around me.

I believe it was changed because of the OWL. Since both beams are the same color, they needed to change their appearance to make them more distinguishable. That’s why we went from 1 beam and 2 slightly thinner beams to 1 thick beam and 2 spaghetti beams

They are gonna gonna change it back. The reason they changed it was because of Overwatch League. Mercy’s healing beam and damage beam are the exact same colors in Overwatch League games. They needed the beams to be very different so that people watching the games can tell whether Mercy was healing or damage boosting. At least I am pretty sure that was the reason.
The beam was changed, so it is easier to spot which one is used in OWL.

I have sooo many hours on Mercy… and yet I barely notice the difference.
Probably a good thing Ana is my main “main” now, otherwise you guys would probably kick me out!

If they wanted to change it just for OWL, they could just change the colors for OWL
