Can we stop with the giant banners?

I hate opening the game just to have 10 different things to click “Okay” on before I can actually play the game. What’s worse is that it takes up the entire screen.

New season? Here’s a boat load of information you didn’t ask for. Endorsement rewards for this week? Here’s another big banner in your face. Reported someone when you last rage quit the game? Another banner, just for you!

Like, 90% of these could just be turned into small little notifications that pop up on the bottom right next to the dailies/weeklies quests for you to claim if you feel like it. Overwatch really needs to start cleaning things up because this game is just chalk full of clutter everywhere you look.

The ideas are literally already out there and fully explained by people in the community. Popcorp on YouTube has some pretty awesome changes that are fully explained and can very easily be implemented with little to no effort. For Christ’s sake, just put in the effort for a free win.

I mean, you only do them once then they are gone.

It happens every time I open the game. There is no reason for it to even be there other than to obstruct my vision.

Anything that stops a player from playing the game increases the chances that they just close the game or start their session agitated by a build up of minor nuisances.

Its one of those stupid things that web builders started doing that I call “Bug splats” its absolute moronic trash that does this on websites that think their marketing gurus gave them a good idea to bombard people with garbage on their screen.

You get the absolute jerk that has to plaster a dumb “EMAIL SIGNUP!” on their page, followed by some stupid element that has to attach to your browser screen that follows you through the entire website and obstructs 35% of your view,

then a stupid virtual assistant that has to be on the corner just to bother you with giving you advertisements, along with some rancid garbage that randomly plays an animation on the screen that no adblocker can block, because the element scripts are rotating signatures.

The thing is, these people must not own cars, because clearly nobody wants a giant bug stain on their windshield. and quite frankly more people need to send crank emails off to these websites telling off their web designers. Which good on you for calling it OUT, because only a complete and arrogant worthless jerk blocks someone’s viewing of a page.

tldr at the bottom.

I’ve been saying this for years… for a triple AAA MMO game with the name blizzard behind it it’s always boggled my mind that we have almost zero modern day UI customization aside form being able to change outline colors in game.

Why can’t I customize where buttons are? Why can’t I move menus around? Why Can’t I change what information I see on my homepage… it’d be nice if I could just hide or put things I neeeeever click on or play somewhere else out of sight / out of mind. I don’t use the shop, I don’t use arcade, I don’t use training mode or missions etc… On rare occasion though I’ll accidently que open que because it’s right next to role que and just not notice until I’m forced into a game.

Why can’t we customize our career profiles btw? I’m sure a lot of people would opt back into displaying their profiles if they could be customized to show the information we care to share… I think mainly people don’t like sharing the entirety of their account info like total play time etc… Personally in competitive when I try to look at profiles what I actually care to see is just your top 3 hero’s THIS SEASON… I don’t care that you mained mercy for 5 seasons straight with 8k hours… Just seeing this season you mained kiriko/lucio/moira or something is much more useful and might help me pick my hero.

also we should be able to customize our tab menu… step in the right direction to make the tab menu interactable for muting/reporting but why not customize it too? If I have a widow on my team I don’t really care to see their damage stat I’d rather see their Acc and Crit acc % in that slot… IF I got an ana on my team instead of their damage/elims I’d rather see their sleep dart acc / primary fire acc / anti nade assists or something useful. Like even if that ana has 20k healing but they have like 2 total sleeps and no anti nade assists why not try a different support that can offer more utility at that point?

Also some missions/story games that have come out in the past have had really nice new features like showing team mate HP/status right in your HUD like why can’t that just be a toggleable option at all times?

TLDR; Agree with the OP… for a ‘modern triple AAA game from a major name company’ it’s just astounding to me how little to none we have to customize our menus/huds. Who friggen cares about customizing your crosshair?

Its one time only. No idea why you complain. At season start it shows the rank and the seasonal changes as well as the current event ONCE. Its fine.

MMO? Are we talking about world of Warcraft or overwatch?

Do you almost never open the game? Because those banners are definitely not an every day thing. And they have useful information and take all of 1 second to dismiss.

Play Marvel Rivals and it takes so much longer to get to the main menu. That is frustrating but the Overwatch experience is very streamlined. It’s honestly a little ridiculous to complain about it.

MMO is “massive multiplayer online” game is which is exactly what OW is. Where did you get world of warcraft from? I’ve never played that game, how is that related?

Were you thinking of an MMORPG? because that’s what world of warcraft is… massive multiplayer online role playing game… hope that helps you.

I like them. I’ve screenshotted every one there’s ever been.

“MMO stands for massively multiplayer online, and it’s a type of video game that allows a large number of players to interact in the same virtual world. MMOs are typically characterized by a large, persistent open world, and can support of players simultaneously.”

Idk anyone who just calls big multiplayer games a mmo. No one is going to call league or Fortnite a mmo. They would be a moba and battle royale.

you only see them at the start of the season and thats it then they are gone for the rest of it if your seeing them every time you start the game something is bugged on your end

sir. MMO stands for massive multiplayer online and no more explaination or definition is needed. it like lol means laugh out loud, no one needs to explain it anymore than that. if you go back and read what I wrote I typed out MMO game… meaning “massive multiplayer online game”. literally no one other than you was confused by this.

So this is what people are complaining about now? Wow :joy:

giant banners are the proof overwatch 2 is just a mobile game

Overwatch is turning into a Chinese app. Not even the “hide panel” button works properly, doesn’t retain the setting after going to a different menu.

Say bye to screen estate, it’s temu time!

You know a game is actually pretty good when this is one of the complaints

You want them to put in effort at all? Lol this was a funny joke.

No? I get multiple notifications every time I open the game. At least three every time, sometimes more.

Yup, this exactly. Well, except for the last part. I like being able to customize my crosshair depending on the weapon type I’m using (circles for shotguns, Cross hairs for snipers, etc.).

I actually think they’re lacking in the Crosshair department as well, since some settings are tied together like the inner and outer outlines being tied together and such.

I get report “Thank you messages” every time I open the game and Endorsement level rewards every week.

But that’s not the only type of clutter on the menu’s. There’s also the wonky system they use for rewarding you cosmetics in the battle-pass too. You have to watch the level up animation every time you progress 1 level on the battle-pass and there have been quite a few times that the animation stopped me from equipping something I wanted because my queue popped before the animation was done.

That and having to traverse 20 different menus and submenus when going through things like the career profile or the options menu. All of it is just senseless clutter.

This is one of the complaints on a very long list. It’s what the forums are used for… If you want to see the “bigger issues” with the game, there are tons of them covering the front page of the forums.

This is just one that I haven’t seen talked about a lot and it’s also a big reason players don’t continue to play games. If you think that fatigue from cluttered menus and pop ups isn’t a reason people stop playing games, then I don’t know what else to tell you.
