The only part of her kit that’s even remotely hard to land is sleep, but even that’s easy as can be if you just throw it at the tank repeatedly. The size of her hipfire is like the size of moira’s spray. It’s HUGE. It’s a little smaller for enemies but not by much. The fact that she’s allowed to have two of the top 3 best cooldown abilities in the game is because “she takes skill” is so laughable.
Taking skill is probably referring to the difficulty is takes to reach her skill ceiling. For Ana it’s probably one of the hardest on the support role.
Ana takes a lot of skill, wth is even this thread.
Obviously not talking about chucking nade at the ground(very unskilled and needs nerfs/changes) but her scoped/unscoped, sleep, and coordinating a good nano at the right time/place
Yep, I wonder who climbed easily with Ana all to Master
I do that on her, pretty much all due to nade, which I have continued to complain about that it needs changes/antiheal removed.
That’s absolutely an unskilled fightwin button. But I’m also really good at her kit that took a good while to master, esp hipfire on squishies running and jumping around. She’s probably got the hardest healing mechanic out of the supports, tied with Bap’s aoe cannisters
One of the things people pointed out when OW 2 first went live was that landing Anti-Nade was super easy when the enemy team no longer had two barriers every game. And I noticed that too. I still think she’s harder to play than a ton of other characters.
I’ve actually always had a harder time playing Baptiste than I have Ana because it feels like if you’re not using his primary fire regularly then you might as well not be playing him, and it’s so exhausting to try to alternate primary fire and heal every other shot. It’s not that I can’t do it, it’s just so much work compared to almost any other character you can play as a Support.
Yet you get prolly get destroyed playing her, wondering why your not doing the destroying…
Says Ana is easy but also says this
is this a joke?
Of course Ana takes no skill, only whoever I’m maining at the time takes skill.
You would not believe how effective it is to stop the enemy tank from playing the game… it needs nerfs because it is just THAT stupid.
This is exactly why OW2 has gotten less and less fun: the dev team doesnt understand at all that low skill ceiling heros cant be balanced the same as much harder to play/ master heros. Theyve continued to balance the game more and more so that theirs no benefit or payoff for playing harder heros.
Why pick Genji or Tracer and go insane trying to get value when you can just pick Bastion and melt everyone.
I was actually explaining this to a friend who quit playing a year ago. He assumed that everyone was playing Genji/Tracer every game and got confused when I told him it’s Bastion, Mei, Torbjorn, Reaper etc.
When you play the really high skill cap characters it feels like you have to work really hard just to be competitive with characters that are really easy to play comparatively. If you’re going to work that much harder, it should at least be rewarding
I feel like Rogue suffers from a similar problem in the current meta of Dragonflight. A viable class for sure, but I can do the same stuff on my Paladin by pressing 90% less buttons, which means the margin for error is way smaller
I honestly think this is the main thing thats slowly destroyed what the game once was… the devs have consistently catered to lower skilled players that dont want to put in any effort to actually get better at hard to master heros so they whine and complain til, over the years, low skill heros get just as much value with half the effort of high skill ceiling heros because of ‘balance changes.’
Feel the same way. I always wanted to like Reaper because he looked like the coolest character before OW1 even launched (I always like villains), but I never wanted Blizzard to cater to his easy play-style to make him more viable, I wanted them to completely re-work him to make him a character that had a higher skill cap and thus more rewarding to play for those who wanted to master him. Feels like the opposite has happened. ![]()
Feels like a lot of things have changed too, like I remember when if the DPS on your team couldn’t aim well with hitscan, your team just lost to Phar Mercy (at lower rating anyways). Now I never even care if we have a highly accurate hitscan on our team. You don’t need good aim to turn into a turret and 100-0 a tank with a massive hitbox from 10 feet away. ![]()
Ana is op, but she’s definitely hard.
For skill ceiling surely it’s objectively not? There are other heroes with cooldown management whose skill ceilings involve being able to headshot.
The skill with ana is consistency and not reloading at the wrong time. Can you hit 5-6 times in a row with heal, or only 3-4? Nades hit more often than not a long range?
She takes skill.
Just, no level of skill should entail that any character holds the game by the nuts the way that she does with her anti-nade and sleep.
Ana’s a tank healer, that throws nades and sleeps. She doesn’t trick shot genji’s doing backflips, that’s the other supports job.
Landing her shots can be hard, but in any optimal situation for Ana, you won’t need to.
Even her survivability is in the hands of her team mates, Ana’s are expected to receive support, not save themselves.
There is a reason she sees such high success in low ranks. Her skill floor is highly exaggerated.
see I disagree, nade couldnt be easier to use. No skill needed there. Her hitbox for allies is HUGE. About the size of moira’s spray. Its ginormous and really takes to skill unless its like a tracer spamming blinks or something. It’s a bit smaller against enemies but not that much smaller. Again pretty easy to land your shots on anything that isnt hyper mobile. That leaves sleep which is pretty tough to land on smaller targets I guess. But if thats all it takes then that means brig also takes mechanical skill since she has a skillshot in whipshot.
What exactly is hard about her? If she was hard why does she have such a high pick rate and win rate in all ranks?
maybe i should have phrased it “high skill” you can get insane value on her even if youve never played a single video game in your life. Anyone who thinks her skill floor is higher than soldier’s is delusional. She takes some skill, but not that much. She has a high skill ceiling I guess but beyond that, nope. Not really.
