Every time there’s a thread discussing nerfing Tracer, you’re bound to run into the post saying how incredibly hard it is to play her and that not just anyone can play her because of how mechanically demanding she is. Now, I’m not saying she’s an easy hero to play, but people trying to justify her permanent S-tier ranking because she actually has to aim is getting old.
If you can track enemies reliably, Tracer is a no brainer when it comes to deciding which hero to learn. An incredibly small hitbox, three blinks on a three second cool down, and a literal reset button every 12 seconds give her the most forgiving kit of any other DPS. The trade off for all of this is only being a close-mid range hero and having a smaller health pool.
If the argument is that she’s allowed to be so good because she demands mechanical skill, wouldn’t it follow that McCree, Widowmaker, and Doomfist should all be higher on the totem pole considering they take just as much (if not more) mechanical skill, with twice as many drawbacks?

She’s not hard to play, but once mastered is a very worthy and annoying opponent. Like Sinatraa.

Yeah, her skill ceiling is really high. My point is that I don’t think it should be the highest in the game while heroes who are harder to play are also in the game.

Your argument sound like based on what her abilities are, not on experience playing her.
Tracer is hard to play because she needs to dodge everything or die. In any dual she has to intertwine blinks melee shot to the head reload timing pulse bomb stick…
The raw amount of precise input is just far above most if not all character in the game.

I think the recent change was a good one for her.
I feel like people see her as overpowered just due to the sheer amount of damage she can achieve when in the right hands but that’s just it, you need to actually practice her to be able to do that well.

Recall needs a longer cooldown and her damage needs to be tuned down, currently recall is too much of a reset button with 0 consequence and her burst damage can one clip 200 HP heroes without any headshots.

idk I feel like widow takes that place. someone playing tracer could be not that good and they’d still contribute to the team. with widow there’s no inbetween like that, if you’re bad you’re a detriment to the team, and you’re good you’re an all star. there’s not really a middle ground like there is with tracer.
I’m not saying that tracer doesn’t require precision but to say she requires is the most out of everyone in the game feels like a joke.

Yes but this is not because widow is harder it is just because all the skill set of widow is aim.
The skill set of tracer is more spread out you need aim but maybe more importantly mastery of the movement. Therefore if you can survive and be annoying as tracer you can still do stuff even if your aim is bad.

You are talking of thing you do not understand.

That’s not even the real problem.
Tracer forces to much pressure even a horrible one who barely gets any picks, since she can be everywhere at any time because her mobility your entire team gets disorganized in no time because she start pocking from every side on the backline and there is only 3 things you can do about it ; flashbang/hook/sleepdart otherwise she will force your entire team to start moving in circles.

Not true. You can do a ton of stuff. Poke at her with any of the bodyguard of the back line. Junk rat dva hanzo Cree soldier etc
This force her to run away.
If she is horrible you can pretty much poke her and ignore her.
People forget that generally you just have to stay together and poke her to death.
Any argument that tracer should remain S (in reality S+) tier due to difficulty of mastering her destroyed by the fact of how bad both Ana and Zarya are. Tracer just overpowered.

Tracer might as well be carrying two shotguns like Reaper because that is the type of effective range she has. Shooting with her isn’t even remotely hard. I’m not sure I would even say she requires medium skill to do well with. You’ll do better with her right out of the box than with most other DPS heroes.

Get more than 5 hours on her and then come back and complain.

She’s really busted on console (in which 9/10 times it’s blatantly obvious whoever’s playing the Tracer is cheating by using KB+M, same goes for Widow). Due to the slower aim speed, it’s nigh-impossible to land a shot on Tracer, while she can easily rip apart everybody on your team with impunity.

You stick together and you get a group killed by Pulse bomb.
You go a lone and you get picked by her or assisted.
How many people have to ignore the front line to poke Tracer? that’s basically disorient the entire team composition, Genji canno’t do that if he goes in and get’s 0 picks he will die because no dash reset. Instead Tracer is the only character in the entire game who have 3 free cards and a four one in case of even getting discorded.
Ignoring Tracer is the worst thing you can do, leaving her free killing your supports over and over, Tracer is in fact a priority target as soon she shows on the backline.

the skill ceiling is high but the the skill floor for tracer is low.

She literally does. Do you watch OWL? The tracers there have nearly instant reaction time.

It takes two second for a soldier to poke her a bit and make her run. 1 sec for a Zen to discord her.

You can the asumption that Tracer is gonna stick 100%, and that people will stay always near the sticky…

I agree that Genji plays differently. His strength is his burts he can erase someone faster than Tracer. Tracer strength is staying alive.
We wre talking of an “horrible” tracer. Remember??
