I don’t really understand why it was added at first
I know Mei is in a horrible spot right now, but making Rein even more useless by adding freezing through barriers is ridiculous.
For those who don’t understand what i’m saying:
Pick Rein.
“Needs a Mei on other team”
She freezes your hand.
You don’t get frezzed, but you can’t walk either. Just rotate the shield.
and this is why I dislike this game. It caters to complainer players. If they’re not having fun then neither shall you. Nerf that needed to happen was Scattershot. Whenever it comes to a 1 vs 1 situation that means it shouldn’t be balance around that unless their kit QoL is lacking.
Mei’s freeze does seem to affect a rein with shield up ridiculously fast RE: his movement speed.
It’s like she just grazes you with her freeze spray and you’re effectively rooted. The time it takes to freeze you is the same, but it feels like you have 0 movement at all instead of reduced movement while it’s happening.
When I’ve brought it up in the past, I was told it wasn’t doing this and that I must’ve been mistaken with Brigitte. She takes splash damage really easy to I figured maybe they were right.
I believe it changed, when they made Mei’s beam pierce targets. At least, that is when I first started noticing it. It does indeed stop Brigitte and Rein from moving, but you can still turn and use your shield.
Oh, oh! I made a post about this the other day, but it’s about a Reinhardt vs Mei situation.
For barriers, it seems Mei’s primary only freezes through barriers when the hero’s feet are planted. Best example is Reinhardt.
If Mei starts trying to freeze you through the shield, point the barrier down at a slight angle, so that it’s aiming down towards her, and start to jump. By aiming the shield down it breaks up some of the freeze effect, and by jumping, it completely nullifies.
You’ll still HEAR the effects, but Reinhardt will not freeze. Like I said, it seems related to his feet being planted.
This can be hard to pull off in a team fight, for obvious reasons, but if it’s just you and Mei, you’ll win with that strategy. Good luck!
She doesn’t freeze people through barriers, but if she hits Rein’s barrier he can’t move and can only rotate. Her slow effect is applied to him but not the stun, which seems unintentional.
