Look. I’m happy ow2 is here finally and all. But I’m still here on ow1. And 76 still throttles this game. It’s ridiculous that one dps can do pretty much everything. He’s absurd.

I agree he’s strong, but there will always be a meta hero. I think it’s his time now to shine especially since there’s a lot of new players/streamers that want to get into the game and it would be awful that their first hero would something complicated and unique like genji, but that’s just my observation

at least his gun sound isnt as annoying as the first game. it seems quieter with the new sound that i never know hes spamming his auto fire

lol, its funny, because soldier is way more stronger on ow2, like actually broken level😂 I played a game in ow2 where my soldier damage is almost the combined damage of enemy both dps+ their tank.

I don’t really think he needed that ult-buff he got. It’s broken in OW2.
Every hero gets a shot in the meta from time to time (even Symmetra for 3 days before nerfing her to oblivion 
)
But really, Soldier should never be the best pick. A solid pick, sure. But the jack of all trades hero shouldn’t be the best of all trades.

OW2 is not finally here. This is the beta. The balance is supposed to be horrible at this point since they haven’t really done any deep diving into it. A lot of things are broken meanwhile heroes like Mei are absolutely garbage because they were bad in OW1 due to overnerfing and now they’re even worse because they just removed CC and whatever they had in their kits with barely any compensation
There’s going to be a massive amount of balance changes before the game is actually released, especially when after years of horrible balancing policies they now know that if balance isn’t as finite as it can be that it’ll kill the game in a rather short time, and practising hero favoritism is completely unacceptable

Except that he’s preferable to deal with (and probably miles healthier) compared to Widow, Hanzo, McCree, or (lol)Bastion being the strongest. Ashe could edge him out but her Coach disengage is way more annoying than killing a Soldier (plus, when she’s too strong she can get pretty wretched).
I totally get that he’s basic AF and effectively is the Old Man Halo of FPS, but most people understand exactly how he operates and can deal with him effectively enough.

What I find funny is that so many new players end up playing the more complex heores that often rquire more teamwork like Genji, Sombra, Symm, Orisa, Dva, etc.
It’s very seldom that I see new players on a straightforward hero that gets more value with an easier to use kit.
He’s stronger in OW2. Less shields gives you free reign on the enemies, when I want to win I swap soldier and farm.

It’s because most players are experimenting with new, reworked or nerfed heroes. Anyone choosing Soldier, who’s unchanged, has an immediate advantage over other DPS players who are learning or relearning their heroes. Soldier may be overtuned, but the beta exaggerates his power level.
I think his immortality field needs to be changed.
I highly disagree with you, they shouldnt pick favourites. Eg. Reaper finally got his time to shine and they instantly dumpster nerfed him. It feels like mother blizzard has favourite children and its defo not reaper. (Its soldier and genji who are both overtuned)
Just like any good parent… blizz should love their kids (heroes) equally and let them all shine

Soldier keeps getting constant 10k damage and high eliminations my games. On attack on payload maps it is also a steam roll with a good soldier.
Killing supports with Genji is so easy I feel bad using him.
