He’s laughably easy to kill now. I don’t see him nearly as often in my games anymore and it’s a stark contrast with a week ago where he was in every single one of them

Remember that Genji is dive, and that based off the hero you choose, you will see a Genji. If you pick a sniper or hitscan, you will see a Genji.
Genji is a reactive pick, not an active pick. I don’t see him that often until my team has a hero Genji counters.

I mean, I beg to differ; I AM a Genji main. I’d always pick him first, then switch to something else if I need to counter. LOL

As am I, but again: I don’t often see enemy Genjis until we have someone Genji counters. Oftentimes I’m the only Genji in the lobby, lol.
I’m the same way, but unfortunately two Genjis don’t dictate the masses. Again, most Genjis I see are from reactive picks - I still see him from the start at times, but usually it’s a reactive pick.
Agreed. Also, this community seems to hate Genji, not going to lie. Every few posts there’s always a Genji ranting post. If I try to counter them all, I’d have a trilogy done by the end of the day.

They don’t seem to, they do. I argued a substantial Genji nerf the other day, and I woke up to ten to twelve replies arguing it and why he needs the nerf lmao. People here hate Genji so much, it’s unreal.

In fairness, a rather large percentage of Genji mains on the forums are completely delusional and incredibly biased, toxic and incapable of looking at balance outside of how it affects Genji.

Been a Genji main since forever, even in GOATs meta I try to make Genji work. Genji receives his shuriken count buff (27-30), I rejoiced and adapted (pfftt muscle memory).
Finally Genji’s real buff came, and I couldn’t be happier. I can do more impact in my games (as a DPS, that’s what you got to do) and it’s the first time I do really enjoy my games.
My time only lasted less than 2 months, then he got nerfed again. Accepted this nerf as well, because maybe it’s “unfair” for regular players to lose against an experienced Genji main.
Still the community wants him dead. I don’t know what the hell is wrong with this community. I’ve never really wanted a specific hero to be nerfed (a little bit exception to Mei’s M1, Brig’s overloaded CC kit and Moira’s succ ball) and this is what I get, jeez.
That’s most people on the forums, it’s why a lot of rarely post here

True, but this is biased as well. Past experience with toxic Genji mains that want buffs for Genji and nerfs for everyone else has people expecting it out of every Genji, without realizing some mains in the other roles are just as guilty of it.
It’s understandable to base your expectations on what Genji mains can be like, but understand that it is a very vocal minority.
My gripe is that people argued that Genji only had to press RMB for success, but it wasn’t the case at all. Now, he has nerfs he didn’t need and that didn’t address the problem he had, instead creating a new one.

Absolutely no argument here, and maybe recent history has colored my judgement, but the last 6 months have seriously downgraded my opinion of most Genji mains on here.
The amount of crying that a lot did over Moira(and Brig, but that was at least more justified), spamming the forums endlessly for nerfs and insulting every Moira and Moira player was bad enough, but then to turn around and say “He’s easy to counter, just git gud!” once he received like 6 buffs back to back?
A complete lack of self awareness, hypocrisy and utter disdain for actual balance.

This is absolutely true, I’m in no way claiming there aren’t rational Genji mains out there.
Unfortunately lately we disagree whether they make up the vocal minority or vocal majority.

As someone who’s been playing Genji for around 800 hours (combined from all my 3 accounts, been playing since Oct '16), the problem caused by his most recent buff was his ult charging speed (which was heavily affected by the sheer amount of damage he was able to do because of the damage and spread buff) and deflect cancel.
Heck, I don’t mind if they nerf his ult charging speed by like, 15% or some sort and revert back his deflect. With 28 damage and firing rate nerfed I don’t feel he’s as fluid as he was, yet people still complain they can still get one-shot easily without being able to react. People still complain about his passive ability, his dash… Heck, Genji has always been like this from day one, maybe his skills have even originated way back before they start playing this game.

The devs have already explained that there is a difference between balance and perceived balance. Given enough time, people will figure out new strategies. Just because Genji is still highly picked doesn’t mean he’s overpowered. Correlation =/= causation. Not to mention, he’s already went from a top 3 overall pick in GM & the #1 DPS to the 2nd DPS behind Ashe & is 11th picked overall. He’s barely above Widowmaker now
