It isn’t spicy preventing mirror picks. I have to hope now that my teammate and enemy will not lock me out of a character.
Yeah, I already hate it. This is like the quickest POSSIBLE way to kill the mode.
Join the hero ban resistance movement. Ban/draft systems go against the spirit of what we got accustomed to expect of our gaming experience from almost a decade of playing Overwatch.
In the dev blog they mention that the goal of draft is to help people counterplay.
As if this is something people are asking for?
Players want less countering, not more
Yeah, I don’t think draft is the way to do that. More armory items tailored to specific match-ups is the better way to go. Like D.Va vs Zarya. D.Va needs an epic item to counter beams. She only has her green and blue items and those take up a LOT of item space to just be at less of a massive disadvantage.
Locking out heroes for the enemy in draft is the absolute worst idea they could’ve gone with.
Nah the hero ban resistance movement is minuscule, drafts will just be hated by everyone lol
I actually greatly dislike the armory specific things. I want to build a cool set and have fun, not pick something that just makes me not lose at character select.
You’re pretty much forced to take that item as D.va if they have Zarya because it just provides too much value for any build that utilizes matrix, which is gonna be basically everything.
It’s not interesting, only useful. We don’t want useful, we want useful and cool.
Said this a million times and i will keep saying it, what D.va needs in Stadium is to have a power that switches DM to a projected Barrier.
That way suddenly she can defend against both beams and Rein shatters in a skillful manner, instead of just existing with a power that provides some passive beam resistance, while still keep collecting shatters like candy during halloween.
Now that would be interesting, though it would need a lot of consideration to make it not terrible compared to matrix. Would definitely be better against Zarya outside of her ult, with D.va ironically being one of the few direct counters to it
This is a really good idea, actually. I’d take the heck out of that.
But how does preventing mirrors help with counterplay?
Exactly
This is the one upcoming change that I don’t like.
One thing I’ve really enjoyed in Stadium is experimenting with different upgrades until I’ve found a build that suits my play style. That takes a long time. I don’t want to be forced into playing characters that I’m unfamiliar with (in Stadium) for that reason alone.
I’ll do my best no matter what, but there will be people that don’t. They’ll be people who get salty and quit/throw cos they can’t play their chosen character. Over time, I can see it affecting the popularity of the mode. It’s a game - it’s supposed to be fun. Don’t add too many rules and restrictions to a mode that is already the most unbalanced due to its complexity.
Suspect this statement will be happening a lot during draft:
“So all the characters I’m familiar with have been chosen. Which character does the team want me to be ineffective on?”
while it personally wont bother me that much since i play so many heros i would still prefer to not be locked out of the one i felt like playing that day… not to mention the poor one tricks haha. on top of that mirror matches can be a lot of fun when its not ram and release mauga
This is Stadium. You can have entire team mirrors that play completely differently from each other because of the power selections and items bought.
League does it well because you can swap positions and whatever else, but also because they have over 140 champs to do this with. Overwatch DOESN’T, and especially not stadium.
I really hope they’ll make draft a separate game mode / choice, because I want no part in it whatsoever
I’m curious to try it. I’m in favor of anything that makes people learn more heroes. You should have to have that skill set to rank up in a competitive mode.
This will help with that, though. Currently, comps are all luck-based. With draft, at least you can respond back and forth to choices and have parts of your team address parts of theirs.
Showing the devs that the “no-mirror” idea isn´t what the players want with constructive crititism like that is hopefulyl what will change their minds about it sooner than later.
QP-Stadium will be an option but that doesn´t mean that the Ranked-Version should have so many restrictions especially if the hero-selection isn´t as big as the rest of thegame.
I’ll just be in Stadium QP having fun however I want without drafts, bans, and other restrictive crap
