It’s making it a little hard to tell wether or not someone is experienced in that character
(Plus it’s kinda hard to tell which character that they play could benefit the team)

Experienced in a character in Quickplay? lol. Cause you ain’t played comp since August.
What do you care what other people are playing in quickplay and if they are “experienced” like I’d understand if it was competitive, but that is just petty.
There’s 2 reasons for private profiles…
You sound like exactly the reason why we have private profiles in the first place. “I want to check which hero I should tell them to play based on my own arbitrary understanding of their stats.” Almost nobody used profiles for anything useful, it was only used to whine if someone tried to play a hero that wasn’t one of their highest winrates, unless the highest winrate heroes were off meta then they’d whine anyway, or to try and force people with a lot of playtime on a hero to only play that hero.
It didn’t work once, it’s not going to work now. The reason we got it hasn’t changed.
Stop thinking that you are the one to tell people what to play, problem solved
Well, we can have private profiles, but then people will just turn off all communications instantly, as randoms wouldn’t do anything else than whine, if someone doesn’t take his most played character every single time.
Alright, since youse have a problem with me trying to put a team together, how about we compromise so that private profile is not the default
Since y’all seem to think that I’m here to whine about me being unable to roast kids. I legit can’t
I chose to keep my profile open and let me just say.
I get so much s*** for playing Sombra just cuz I have a decent amount of time on Mercy. The only reason I’m still keeping it up is because I just want my teammates to be aware that I’m a reliable Sombra player.
TL;DR: Prívate profiles is the best solution to those attacking you because of your stats. No way to go around it.
I dont know.
Can we, like, quit rank shaming people?
Can we, like, stop trying to force people to play certain Heroes that they cant or dont want to play?
Can we, like, stop shaming and insulting people for their choice of hero(es)/role(s) they Main?
So far, the answer has been “no”. Until the amount of toxicity in this game, plummets, Private Profiles are needed.
I know what characters i can play, i don’t need a random person telling me what i should play.
I dont remember when someone use it in positive way to make team in my times of plaing, but i remember people reactions on my reinhardt play time… not always positive.
And im plaing hero that is seem as over all usefull, imagine now if you are maining off meta hero. How much hate that person gona get for just having it in most played for no good reason. Or if you main hero that is seen as op, that just “boost your stats” or some other reactons like that.
With your logic that person should be free to pick that hero, but its not anyway
Also remember we are in 2 2 2 time, when someone like me is litteraly forced to play heros we trash on if we even want to do placement matches, or want from time to time in qp play somethign else.
Private profiles wouldn’t need to be necessary if the Overwatch team actually reworked/overhauled the Career Profile page.
Allowing top 3 favourite characters chosen by the player themselves rather than how many hours played, putting the focus on the more important stats rather than the bloated ones like objective time defensive assists etc.
Fine tuning it over time so that it can be useful. Yes the current one breeds toxicity, however private profiles does the same in equal amounts. It’s the way it’s designed in the first place that’s inherently flawed.
Unfortunately, as with all of Blizzard’s other additions like Endorsements, the Workshop, Role Queue and such, after the initial creation they don’t bother ironing out the kinks and forget about it.
This right here, I love this idea. Some people would probably be a bit of troll, but I really like this idea. Pleases everyone
Do you honestly believe that private profiles help with anything you’ve just mentioned ? I hear people regulary calling out others just for having private profiles. This isn’t a solution at all but only a way to cater to those crybabies who feel abused in a video game.
Some, yes. For example, you cant Rank, if you cant see their Rank. Which, works well on the Forums against people who discredit anything someone says, just because they arent [insert Rank] or above.
Granted, I know not even private profiles will stop every toxic thing a person can say. But, its a start. And, im all for giving those kind of people the least amount of “fuel” to start their “fire”, as possible.
I will say, though, if anything, private profiles arent enough, and more definitely needs to be done about the toxicity, in this game. As it stands, right now, the report system is a joke and Endorsements dont mean squat.
So, i believe, we should start there. We need a better, more monitored report system (not just this automated crap). And, Endosement levels need to actually mean something. Actual positive people, in this game, should be properly rewarded and toxic ones, should actually be punished. There have been a few thread, here and there, on the Forums, that have gone into greater detail, on that matter, as a whole.
Or you could not waste your time and everyone else’s time during a match just because you want to force someone to play a character they don’t want to. Just because someone has a lot of hours on one character, doesn’t mean that person likes playing that character all the time. Variety is the spice of life, as they say.
I don’t want my teammates, or anyone, to have that information. To me, that’s private info for my own perusal. If you want something from me, you can ask. But I’m not obliged to play what just anyone thinks I should. I play what I feel comfortable with at the time. Take it or leave it.
Ever thought of why they even felt bad in the first place? I’ll give you have of the answer: they were getting bullied for the heroes they play.
Don’t bother.
People love private profiles because they like hiding their poor choices.
Yes, you. That 1000+ hour mercy one trick trying to play soldier in comp.
Practice in QP first for the love of god.
