I mean if you really want it to be accurate compared to real life the game would be more like getting currency per level, and then having to pay a storage fee for all the things in your hero gallery, medical and repair expenses for damage taken during fights, and ultimately you end up with less currency than you had before.
I mean, the point of this analogy wasn’t to make direct literal comparisons.

Well you were making the point that it is much closer to a reasonably rewarding meritocracy than real life. Which is true.
What kind of outlandish sculduddery are you speaking of? Playing a game for fun? People do not play for fun anymore, they play for cosmetic items to make them look flashy. It does not matter how you play as long as you can horrify your enemies or entertain your friends with a Roadhog butcher skin or a Sentai Genji that will make them
in fear or laughter.
What they need to do is what they already have in place in HotS: award credits for completing a match. Win or lose, you get a certain amount of credits at the end of every match. I believe it’s only 10 credits per match in HotS. Something as simple as that would feel more rewarding to me than playing for 1-2 hours just to be awarded a lootbox containing approx 25 credits minimum.

shrugs I like getting the credits. Heck, 25 credits can mean a voice line I didn’t have or that little bit I needed to get a skin I was saving for. I literally have all the basic items, except for some all hero sprays, in the game. Nearly every loot box is just me getting duplicates now, but I like to challenge myself to level up. I don’t know why, it’s just a goal I have.
Maybe if this game was actually good and balanced people would be like that : P

If they rewarded people who lvled their accounts per star in this game, they would lose money from people buying new accounts.
because then youll get players that only play comp for the rewards. Golden guns were regretted from the dev team, because so many people were only playing not to rank up but to grind and get a golden gun. I think that rewards need to go to diamond+ basically people that are actually good at the game.

If you are ‘playing’ a game you dont find good/balanced, for cosmetics that do nothing to improve how good/balanced the game is…well thats on you I suppose.
