Thats it, I would like another way to gain competitive points,
Id like to get a few golden guns but i swear to god i dont want to play competitive ever again, Its broken, Ranking up isnt improving your skill, is testing your luck if you get a competent group of people alongside you because you can be a gm in bronze and if your team is a group or airheads you wont rank up ever
im so tired of this mode, its so filled with people that i cant describe because this forums dont let me
Please blizzard, Just give us another way to get comp points

I was thinking it’d be awesome if they added a “Structured Play” playlist which would be an unranked playlist that used the Competitive format. To incentivize and makes these games “competitive” despite no rating system the winning team would be rewarded 5CP.
This reward is still a lot less than Competitive but gives people another option for Golden Guns and an environment to practice heroes in a competitive environment without damaging theirs/teams SR.

This sounds like a dream tbh. I love it.

Gold its fine only for competitive. But u can add new weapons skins like plat or full dark or multicolored to win on quick play on arcade or something like that. Just my opinion

I think they should do QP points or something, and maybe they can be used for the same goal. Like 3000 Comp points = golden gun, 3000 QP points = golden gun, but you can’t do 1500 of each. You earn enough in that 1 mode, and you get a golden gun.
It really doesn’t affect me, as I play mostly comp, but for those who play QP, they really should be able to earn golden guns… even if it was 6000 QP points. I don’t think it’s fair that Comp is the ONLY way to get them, when they’re just aesthetics anyways.

I love the environment of Competitive, I feel like that’s how the game is meant to be played, with cohesive team comps and everyone communicating. But at the end of the day I play this game to have fun, and having to worry about my rating/throwers or being attacked for what I play (even tho I’m a Tank/Support player so I don’t even know the worst of it) is not as appealing as just playing Quick Play.
But if there’s no incentive to pick heroes and play as a team so that you can win the game then naturally team oriented players are going to gravitate towards a playlist that will facilitates cohesive comps and teamwork. Then you’re left with the issue of not enough Tanks/Supports/Teamwork in the other mode of QP.
“Structured Play” would be an in between of the two. Allowing people to practice and learn to play the game in a competitive environment. While letting them feel like they’ve earned competitive points for golden guns too by winning matches.
Doing this would actually be healthy for Overwatch’s competitive mode. Many people play it simply because they want the golden weapons, and not because they properly care about climbing the ladder.
Taking some of competitive’s focus away from golden weapon rewards, and offering competitive points in multiple game modes would definitely lessen this current problem.

Just a friendly reminder to post on a topic especially if you agree with it so that others will see it too and the thread won’t get buried!
Would also like some opinions about the “Structured Play” idea, like if someone leaves a match they feel is lost should there be a waiting period before they can re-queue to prevent this mentality? Should there be backfilling in this mode? Thanks!
Honestly, It would be a good idea but then what would Qp be?
the place for trolls?
I think it would be cool if they added a 10 comp point (more or less) reward with each lootbox you get from arcade

Nope. It’s been showed multiple times, even by players that are Plat, when in Bronze they get a 90% winrate. There are videos of GMs playing on bronze for 7 hours straight without losing a single game, even 4v6.

You should only get competitive points for playing in a competitive environment, so unless they add some other kind of competitive mode (kinda like CTF but something else). Getting comp points for playing casually I completely disagree with.

The comp only people would be very happy. Its a win win. Mentality of QP players is just too different sometimes (hence first and last week of the season being so crappy to play)
Well they could do a thing like after you win all of your loot boxes in arcade they reset but it’s comp points in place of the loot boxes? Maybe like 15 or 20 comp points or like a super small amount for every won game like 2 comp points? It’ll still take a long time to grind up the points and it’ll have the memey fun of arcade. Heck maybe even have it just on the death match and you have to get like into the top 4 for comp points?

They’ve said before that they regret adding gold guns to the game because it attracts the wrong people to competitive as many play solely for the gold gun.
Having another way to gain competitive points would eliminate those people.

Link to the quote where they discuss regretting adding them?
Here’s a link to the old forum with a topic discussing it.

regrets-adding-overwatch-competitive-play-rewards but I can’t access the page. It was said in that interview though.
If you Google “Jeff Kaplan regrets gold weapons,” similar things will come up surrounding that topic.
Edit: Sorry for the weird link format.
Quick Play would still be for those people who want to just have fun playing the game and not worry about winning/losing, like one of my close friends.
But as someone who is usually stuck playing shield tank in QP so our team doesn’t melt (a role I mainly choose to do in Comp) it’s frustrating when there’s not enough healing and no one wants to communicate or work together.
Some days I’ll want a break and practice Doomfist so I’d queue for Quick Play and play more casually. But it’d be nice to have a middle ground option for when I want to play the competitive format with a hero I’m less experienced with etc.
Golden guns shouldn’t be tied to competitive at all, they should be tied to wins across all modes or something like that instead. Having a reward for competitive promotes toxicity as much as it promotes the desire to win games - if you don’t think your team is winning and want to climb to get those golden gun points, many people get very toxic very quickly.

That or golden guns are tied to comp and playing other modes gets you a silver gun or something like that.
