Since there are so many buffs and debuffs in the game, a status bar showing what you’re afflicted by and for how long like the ones in league/dota/smite would be nice. I imagine it would be fine right above the health bar. Also the option to disable this for those who don’t like it or more experienced players in general would be nice.
I want team status bars so I can see who’s dead and who has ult without having to stop moving in order to pull up an entirely different screen that blocks my view. Like they have for archives missions.
And yes it’s a team game and there are callouts and yes people should use voice chat, bbbuttt… they don’t, okay, they just don’t. Barely anyone uses voice comms and the people that do just do it to be toxic or to make nonsense callouts. And comm wheel callouts are usually drowned out by spam.
I wish we had customizable UIs as well, I’d like to move the number of my HP/ammo near my crosshair
This ^
As someone who’s played a decent amount of heals when I used to play. Having your teammates be able to see if you have Ult or not. Without needing to bring up a different screen would be nice, as even with the other screen most are to lazy to check in the first place.
They’d have no excuse if it was right there in front of them.
Sure. But it’ll take the Overwatch team an additional 5 years of development time.
sounds like a good idea imo, more info in such a chaotic game is always nice
Yeah this a must. Warframe out of all games actually does a really nice job indicating buffs and debuffs in blue and red color schemes respectively and give you a nice little popup that is unobtrusive yet tells you what you just got hit by or are procing at the moment. Knowing if you have harmony, rally, speed, discord, are stunned, slowed, can easily be missed in the visual clutter in chaotic team fights. Having these (with relevant affects having a timer like stuns) indicated more clearly and directly would be a very nice quality of life change and would help people at all levels of play.
On one hand this would lower skill and awareness requirements as keeping track of ultimates and dead/alive status of both teammates and enemies is a crucial skill to have.
On the other hand, it might actually improve the quality of the game in lower SR where people don’t have, or even realize that they should have this kind of awareness just from looking at the kill feed and pressing tab in between fights.
So even though I wouldn’t like the inclusion of this personally, I see that it would likely make team play less demanding and the game more enjoyable outside of higher ranks.
It’s something similar to League of Legends years ago when jungle timers were put at the top of the screen. I didn’t like it because to me it was an important skill to track the timers myself, but overall it helped the game.
Not just this, an on screen reminder that your Ana exists and has ult could be a good way to get people to peel of their own accord😂
Yeah, sometimes people do forget that their backline exists, but as an Ana main, I tend to die among the last in fight and if I don’t, it’s usually due to my own poor positioning or just getting hard focused. While peeling for supports is important, I consider being aware of the flankers and repositioning myself accordingly to be much more impactful. Often when I see supports complaining about lack of peeling, they are out of position and making it hard for their team to peel for them even if they tried.
I find the kill feed to be one of those things I often don’t have time to glance at during a frenzied match. I’m an Ana main and it often feels like people are taking so much damage so often that I really can only glance away from my targets when things are calm between fights or when I’m dead sort of thing and by then I may have missed something. Granted, this is another thing that wouldn’t be as much of a problem if people talked because I can listen without having to take my eyes off of what’s currently happening. So I do get that there’s an awareness factor and that’s an important skill, but stuff happens so crazy fast in this game, and on console I’m often playing without shield tanks, so it just really feels as if I can’t take my eyes off the play often enough to ever be able to accurately keep track of that stuff. But you’re right, could just be a limitation of my gold rank.
It is a limitation of lower SR and even in higher ranks. It’s also not just kill feed. Each hero make a specific sound on death and as a support you can visually see most of the battlefield, especially as Ana from the backline, so you see who dies and who lives. Tunnel vision is usually the culprit behind this lack of awareness.
