Getting a QP lobby without map bans (“voting”) should be introduced with the mid-season patch in worst case scenario. It’s unbelievable that they still didn’t address the issues and exploiting this feature allows.
I’ve never been so late in my BP (even with the Premium BP and 20 bonus levels). Can’t progress it as there are not enough Arcade-oriented daily challenges.
What are we supposed to do, us players that don’t have time to invest in playing Stadium and that refuse to play Escort and Hybrid only in QP… ?
Are we simply supposed to quit next season… ? Is asking for a QP lobby without restrictive map bans too much… ?
I doubt they would further split the qp playerbase on map voting now. Also i have had a pretty good distribution of maps and modes. Given I’m usually with a buddy and we both are fine with picking what we feel like playing. Definitely played less clash thankfully, and less flashpoint tho I think mid season will be great for that mode. But probably a pretty good mix of the other 4 modes. I vote push every time since it’s my fav mode, and often enough it has like 3-5 votes.
I vote no. Pretty obvious the majority of players do not like Flash Point, Clash or Push. Infact seems Hyrid and Escort are the majoroty of maps I play in QP seeing as the other modes get a vote or two at max. I don’t mind clash, or control. But have a less like to Push and down right hate flash point. So I love our new map voting Gods.
Infact, I’d love see what the statics or numbers are for map voting.
I don’t play ranked anymore 'cause there are not enough active players to have a good experience in terms of elo accuracy and hero bans don’t make sense in a counterpicking based hero shooter, so I won’t play it ever again (until there’s a new Overwatch game with a bigger playerbase).
Still, some of us need to have a QP lobby without map bans. Forcing us to play that many old Escort and Hybrid maps is disheartening.
Then why did they introduce Hero bans and map bans in the first place ? Doing so already divided us even more.
Won’t play it until Escort and Hybrid occurrences are back to normal.
Those two game modes are already favored because of the amount of existing maps (oldest game modes from Pay-to-play Overwatch). Some of us don’t need those two game modes being thrown down our throat even more.
Playing more than 2 Escort or Hybrid maps in a row is a no-go to me. I don’t have time to play 10 matches in order to get Clash, Flashpoint, KOTH once.
Again, we need a QP lobby without map bans. Not negotiable. Accessing the entire Overwatch content we had 3 weeks ago shouldn’t even be a demand we should beg for in 2025, in a game that’s 9 years old. Period.
So you vote no to Overwatch not losing more active players… ?
You’re against people having fun in Overwatch for having access to content they previously had for years ? Why ?
You can still play QP map bans only if you want to…
I’m having the opposite happen. No more waste of time forced to play on control maps for 2 round losses that only count for 1 challenge point.
Only thing slowing me down now are the clueless voting flies attracted to the latest time wasting trash map and have no clue how to play as a team on it because of all the places they buzz off to.
I wish we, people that want to get access to all the existing map, will also be considered as worthy members of the playerbase by getting a QP lobby that gives access to all the existing content soon.
Huh? Not negotiable? Who do you think you are? They only care about appeasing the majority. They don’t (and probably shouldn’t) care about the small minority and catering to them having a negative impact on the majority. That’s what you’re asking them to do.
You get 3 maps, 1 is escort and the others are flash/clash. Usually flash/clash will get 1 trolling vote right before the timer runs out and no other votes. The number of people in your situation seems to be very small. Why should they care if 99% of people want to play payload/hybrid?
The odd-one-out is control. I see a lot more votes for control but still less than most hybrid/payload. It does seem popular enough but may lose out a bit to hybrid/payload and so be played less than before. Having said that, I see control winning sometimes with most votes against maps like numbani.
Sadly, I think it’s quite unlikely Blizzard would add a new QP mode for this purpose, or remove the map voting system from current QP modes. Sucks for those of us who prefer variety and/or just don’t want to play Escort/Hybrid nonstop, but what are ya gonna do?
Yeah, not negotiable, sorry for the typo ! I’ll correct it in my original post.
Yes, which is the main problem. They’ve been losing so many players over the years because of constantly antagonizing players that don’t root for restrictions.
When will this cease ? How many more active players are they willing to sacrifice ?
Not asking for removal 'cause it would create even more controversy and division.
Simply adding a QP lobby without map bans would be perfect, or in Arcade, as a first step if they’re worried about skyrocketing queues times (which is completely on them).
Make our voices heard but it’s quite ineffective, apparently…
People that are against us having a QP lobby without map bans are shooting themselves in the foot and will be suffering from long queues in the future, when more active players like us quit for good.
It’s a shame they can’t see the big picture right now. They’ll realize this only when it’s too late.
You have no evidence of this. For a game that is 9 years old do you expect there won’t be a drop in the playerbase over time? There is going to be natural attrition.
The impressive thing is, especially when comparing to their competition, is how slowly they are losing players. I’d suggest people like you make up almost none of that. The people that like what they are doing, and the people coming back, probably massively outnumber the people leaving because they have hero bans or map voting. And the ones leaving may be sombra mains and we can all give a large round of applause for that
Don’t think that’d be much of an obstacle for Blizzard. They’ve made plenty of controversial changes to the game before that caused division among the players.
I’d be all for that, I just don’t think Blizzard are very likely to do that, cause it’s Blizzard, and Blizzard sucks. (I probably should elaborate more than that, but I think it’s funnier this way :p)
I tend to agree with that, and not just in the context of Overwatch, but more generally as well. People seemingly only start caring about an issue once it starts effecting them personally, regardless of how much other people tried to warn them about it beforehand. I’m not entirely sure how something like that gets solved though, or if it’s even possible to :/
Blizzard stopped sharing numbers when it comes to active players and they started hiding ranks when Overwatch went free-to-play in 2022, so they can mix players from different elos and put them in the same match (so we don’t see how they make up for the lack of active players).
I mean we can be naive if we want but saying there’s no evidence is straight up being in denial.
Also, I’m not saying it’s not okay to lose players in a 9-year old game. It’s perfectly fine and the game is still doing okayish compared to others that are just as old.
Still, this doesn’t explain why the OW team is making controversial choices. They’re literally trying to get rid of players by adding more and more restrictions.
It’s counterproductive and it shows.
You being toxic and actually enjoying that other fellow members of the players have their experience constantly ruined is quite… sociopathic I would say… This type of behavior has no business in a multiplayer game.
But you do you, I guess. .
I 100% agree. This sums up one of the biggest issue with the OW community. As I’ve stated above, there’s a contradiction with players wanting to play a multiplayer game while having no concern when it comes to compassion or regard to fellow players playing the same game.
The solo / selfish mindset is plaguing Overwatch as a community (and also other multiplayer game communities).
If hero bans have shown anything it’s that sombra players are the ones being toxic and ruining OW for many people. To enjoy a hero that ruins the game so much they get a 90%+ ban rate, and on seeing how much people hate her still playing her, now that’s sociopathic.
I think that all 3 map options should be from the same mode, so I’m not stuck playing hybrid every single game, and so I’ll actually get to play flashpoint every now and again
I feel as if they ninja nerfed the challenges. I used to clear all three challenges every day if I played at least 3 games. Heck, over half the time it only took one game.
Now? It’s always missing one or two. To be fair, I stopped queueing all roles because 6v6 is open. But, like, even with that I feel every day is a “bad roll.”
I am only like level 20 on the pass right now, but that’s probably fine. I want all of the lootboxes too, so I have to keep coming back week after week.
I digress, you should not expect anything. Quickplay is the real competitive mode. I am surprised we get these features in ranked.
Well, at least there’s a new support hero apparently next season (just found out right now), that might incentivize me to play QP again next season.
Edit : Oh never mind, it’s an Asian-oriented hero again. I forgot Blizzard was eyeing the Chinese playerbase to make an attempt to save their game in terms of active players.
I probably won’t like the character’s design and abilities. He looks more like some sort of Kiriko 2.0 than anything.
Each to their own. But, where you getting the “not enough active players” stuff from…
Also, whilst counterwatch has become the norm. That is more through bad decisions than design.
Having X hero that counters Y hero to the point where a player feels they can no longer play them is terrible design and (pun intended) counter to what the games about.
Call it the Brig solution if you will. You want options so that, with the use of skill, you can have the ability to turn the tides of a fight. But instead every fight is lost and people bring out the “brig solution”. It isn’t skill expression, it’s tedious spreadsheet management. And there are better games out there if that is what you’re into.
What needs to happen is that there are softer counters. Where you still need to actually out play your opponent to have the advantage. Rather than merely the hero pick being the advantage.
