As someone who just came back to OW2, fresh from season 9, almost everyone is now saying Dva is overtuned despite resent nerfs and I don’t get it? I’ve played like 20 QP matches as Dva into season 12 and as someone who has been playing her since 2016, she is literally the worst shes ever felt. Poke counters her, beam counters her, she cant deal with flanks, CC heros counter her and everyone is saying she can melt 225 health squishies but I havent seen that? What are these people talking about do they even play her? Like yeah you buffed her DM time, but she still has like 4 direct counters in different slots to be filled the second you see her in game, completely shutting down her ability to play the game. I seriously don’t get it.

It is because Dva was meta. Anything that becomes meta is hated by the very reasonable masses.

There was a “bug” for the first half of the season where Juno’s speed ring was giving DVA more speed than intended with her boost. So she could fly into your backline from a long distance use her missile volly (they buffed Micro Missiles last season) then ram into and melee a 225 support. They were left at like 5 life from that, so just one shot after flying in once she drops DM would finish them off.

She’s the everything hero who’s only weakness is beams and they’re not even that good against her.
She rushes in and obliterates you if you aren’t tank in 1 second, and you can’t hurt her because of DM. She has an extra life, her ult is an instant kill if you’re anywhere near it, call mech is also an instant kill purely because “haha funny”, she eats almost every ult in the game just by tapping the right click button, regularly after demeched you’ll be low health from the fight and she’ll come out shooting and immediately kill you with her colossal bullets that are impossible to miss…

But somehow Junkrat spam, phara spam are cool right? Widow one shots are cool, Hog being literally unkillable is cool, Sigma has been fine since his release and Orisa is fine right? Oh but Dva can mitigate some Ults and damage and shes broken? Doesnt make sense she has 4 hard counters?!

d.va can mitigate almost any type of damage with the press of a button and can be used as a blanket check for nearly every hero that wants to threaten your team

It used to be on a long cooldown after use, so you played more like a dive DPS with no range and used it just to counter ults or save your other tank when they needed to reset.
People inevitably hates what is meta.
The other reasons is the usual suspect. Devs over buff and don’t address the actual player and Dva mains feedback of what’s wrong with the hero.
Your doing excessive armor, super long easy mode DM management, while the regenerative passive and Juno’s hyper ring super boosting Dva.
They had to do all that to help Dva, and other tanks overcome the DPS passive that makes tanking a chore and the counter problem of 5v5.
The hate was exaggerated but legitimate.
I’ve played Dva since launch. This isn’t her strongest version. But they weren’t the changes to balance her. Just made her easier to play recklessly.
That’s the problem with over buffing any hero.
The issue with dm has always been that there is nothing you can do against it. It is just there.
Shields can be broken, run past, etc.
It is very uninteractive ability.

No I’ve always hated Dva. Her kit has always been absolutely bloated. She has way too much going on. Amazing dive ability, amazing defense ability, amazing combo, amazing ult, an extra life.
She has too much that’s good. Other characters with amazing things about them are mediocre or terrible at other things. She doesn’t have that, her only real weakness is beams and that’s literally it.

Amazing Kit would be Kiriko imo.
Amazing combo and amazing ult, pump the brakes, fam.
Her ult is bad and dated for 5v5. It’s a glorified dead eye for zoning.
It’s not like Sigma’s ult. Now that’s a bloated kit.
But I digress.
Like Genji, on paper it looks like a bloated kit, but in gameplay reality of the lifetime of ow 2 Genji and Dva have rarely been above B tier.
Dva had all these buffs in season 11 to even matter. Before that her “bloated kit” didn’t mean Jack because her mech would crack like an egg.
This is the exaggeration I’m talking about.
The bigger issue is the off tanks only matter when they get buffed enough to be meta. Because of tanks can’t function as main tanks in 5v5 without a tank partner. One of the core problems of 5v5.
Zarya, Mauga, Roadhog, Ball, etc. They can’t hold space unless you make them ridiculous. When you don’t they get countered out of the game.
Dva has a ton of weaknesses.
Too much damage, too much health, was busted with a “bug” with speed ring that allowed her to fly onto targets at the speed of light
Primary fire being infinite and doing that much damage allows her to fly at you holding m1, dm you so you can’t get healed and then she fired the gigabuffed missiles onto you
Like when most tanks are meta in higher elo anyway, their counterplay options are easily neutralised or just weak in the grand scheme of things. Like Dva players would tell you that beams hard counter her but having to play Symmetra in GM is trolling. Would maybe work in gold though
Playing Zarya and Echo and Sombra at high skill brackets isn’t trolling, hell even just one of them would make playing D.VA extremely annoying. Sym might be trolling though you got that one.
Um, it pretty much is though. Maybe zarya is okay, but definitely doesn’t make playing dva “extremely annoying.”

Plus they said they are looking at reworking beams vs tanks with those as their weakness
