Watching streamers, some say to get on point - the more of your team on point (in 2CP) the longer the respawn time of the other team. Others say “minimum 3 on payload” which seems to imply a similar dynamic.
Is this right and is it documented somewhere if it is?

The three on payload is because the payload moves faster with each player on it up to a max of 3 so it’s moving at it’s top speed with three players on it.
This is probably just because the payload goes at max speed with 3 players on it.
Respawn time is fixed at 10 seconds when not in overtime. The moment Overtime starts, respawn time is 13 seconds.
Payload moves fastest when 3 bodies are on it. Does not affect respawn time.
OVERWATCH PATCH NOTES – FEBRUARY 28, 2017
General
- Respawn Delay
- When attackers outnumber defenders while taking a control point on Assault, Escort and Assault/Escort maps, the defenders’ respawn time will slowly increase until it hits a maximum value or the defense manages to gain the upper hand.
Developer Comments: Until now, stalling an attack by repeatedly throwing yourself at the point has been a common defensive strategy on Assault, Escort and Assault/Escort maps—even when the attackers have a decisive advantage. Typically, this tactic doesn’t change the outcome of battle; it simply delays the attackers’ progress.
I hope this helps
Ah, ok that explains that one. But in a video from Cyx he is very explicit to say that the more of the attack team are on the 2nd point in Volskaya the longer the spawns for the other team and he tries to get everyone to get on point.
I think they did make that change awhile back as a way to help prevent stalling that would just make the match go on for a long time but there is a max amount of time and again I think they maxed it at a need of 3 for that. I just can’t remember the details specifically so I didn’t really address it.
